Schooling for My Career

For my career I needed to obtain a bachelor's degree as a marketing major.
I did not need any other type of training or schooling.
For this project I will have to budget for student loans.
Calculations:
$74.86 a month for the loan (used online calculator)

Where I Live
I am renting an apartment.
The apartment is in the city in Manhattan, New York.
I live with a roommate so the monthly cost for rent will be split in half.
Calculations:
monthly rent found online-$2895
split in half-2895/2=$1447.50 monthly rent

Renters Insurance
When I looked online, I found that a standard renters insurance policy costs
about $300 for $50,000 worth of property.
Online insurance providers websites would not let me get a quote without
calling so I just searched a standard quote.
For my apartment renters insurance I will say the monthly policy is $250.

Transportation
Because we live in the city me and my roommate do not have a car.
For our transportation we will either take the subway or walk.
Since I can walk to work, Ill say that I take the subway 12 times a month.
12 times multiplied by $2.75 per ride equals $33 a month on transportation.

Cable and Internet

For cable and internet providers, I will have Verizon FIOS.
For cable and internet, I will pay $107.12 per month.
This comes from using Hi-speed enhanced internet, and the
xtra channel package for TV.

Cell Phone
The provider I will be using is Verizon.
I will be using the large plan which is 6 gb for $60 and
unlimited talk and text.
My roommate and I are both on the plan so we will split the
bill in half.
$60 a month split in half equals $30 a month for phone.

2.

Food- $32.88

3.

Toiletries- $8.21

Total: $58.66

Planning on dining out twice a week.
Average spending each time for me- $11 multiplied by twice a week equals $22 multiplied by 4 weeks a month equals $88
per month dining out.
Total:
In all going to spend- 58.66+88= $146.66 per month on food.

Utilities
Since I live in an apartment, my rent covers the cost for
water, sewer, and electricity.
However, I need to pay separately for heat.
The cost per month for gas heating is $300.

Other Expense #1Entertainment

For my first other expense, I chose to do entertainment.
To figure out how much this category would be, I decided to
round it to about $115 a month.
I chose this number because of things like gym
memberships, and movie tickets, and sporting event
tickets.

Other Expense #2- Clothing

For my second other expense I chose clothing.
I decided that my monthly clothing expense should be $70 a
month.
I chose this number because I figured I would order
something or get some clothing once a month and the
estimated total would be an average of $70.

Savings
For my savings, I decided to put in $100 a month just so that
I have a good amount of money in my savings account.
All the expenses listed in the previous slides totaled
$2,674.14, leaving me with an extra $165.19 each month.
2,839.33-2,724.14=$165.19
74.86+1,447.50+250+33+107.12+30+146.66+300+115+
70+100=$2,674.14

Life Happens
For my life happens incident, I chose that I got injured playing basketball and
broke my ankle.
After the $2500 bill, I decided that to adjust my budget, I would spend less
each month on clothing and entertainment since they are not necessary
expenses.
For clothing, I could decide to only order clothes every 2 months or even 3
months.
For entertainment I would try to find ways to exercise that dont cost a gym
membership, like a basketball court at a park or just working out at home.
