ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
I have shown thorough to advanced development in Professional Competencies 1 through 12. I
believe I have shown significant development throughout this field experience. I feel I have particularly
improved in competencies 3, 4, 5, and 6. I am now confident in my abilities to plan a lesson that will
meet the needs of my students, implement that lesson successfully and meet the learning objectives,
and ensure the lesson contains differentiation to ensure success for all of my students. I believe I have
a much stronger understanding of assessment, and the possibilities that exist for making use of
assessment on a daily and ongoing basis. Finally, I believe I have greatly improved my classroom
management abilities, as I am now confident independently managing a class.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
I would like to improve my skills in Professional Competencies 9 and 11. This field experience did
not contain opportunities to lead any extra-curricular activities, or cooperate with the community to
develop projects, due to the Work to Rule actions. I would like to experience running an
extra-curricular activity, to see what is involved in the planning and implementation of such
activities within a school. I'd also like to see how field trips into the community are planned and
carried out. I would like to continue working on competency 12 as there are a few features of this
competency that I would like to better understand, such as "demonstrates sound judgment in using
the legal and regulatory framework governing the teaching profession".

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:

I will improve on competency 9 by being sure to be involved in any special projects, field trips, or
existing extracurriculars during my fourth field experience. I would also like to implement my own
extra-curricular activity, if possible within my host school. Before I begin my next stage, I will speak
with fellow student teachers to discuss possible ideas for an extra-curricular club I can run.

I will further develop competency 12 during my fourth seminar, as I believe topics related to this
competency are discussed in this seminar. I will make use of classroom discussion, assigned
readings, and the knowledge of my peers and instructors to help improve my understanding. I will
then take this understanding into the field and apply it during FE4.
