During
FE4 I worked to develop PC4 more than any other professional competency because I believe
it incorporates the most important aspects of effective teaching. This includes planning both
that

student-centered
and diverse lessons and providing quality feedback in order to place every student in

the
position
to
succed.

One
of the approaches which I took to address this PC was for my students to perform some sort of

experiment
or observe/analyze a demonstration every single class. In this method I wasn't simply telling

students what they needed to know, I was allowing them to observe the phenomena and come up with
facts on through semi-guided discussions. Class discussions allowed students to express their
the

conceptions
and learn from each other while allowing me to gauge their level of understanding and
prevent
misconceptions from forming. This process allowed me to harness the power of discussion in

science.

Providing timely and detailed feedback was another aspect of this PC which I worked to develop. One

method
of doing this was by creating an online question/comment dropbox where my students could ask

questions
as they studied or worked on assignments. It was very effective!
