HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?
order to learn from my past experiences, I started off this FE by informing my secondary 4 and 5

students
of what I expected of them. This included my rather strict policy regarding late assignments. It

difficult to implement at first since my style was starkly different from that of my CT, but my students
was
caught
on quickly and started handing in their work by the perscribed due dates. This goes to show that

any
class, no matter how rowdy or disorganized, can adapt quickly to a new teacher who makes their
expectations
and teaching style clear to the students. One reason for this smooth transition is that I

consult
my students regarding each due date. If they already have a large amount of work for other

classes
around the same time then I will shift my due date by a few days. The students are generally

honest
about their workload and appreciate my flexibility. This helps me to build strong relationships with

students that are built on trust and understanding.
