BIOGRAPHY (cont.)

His work has been commissioned by several prestigious college and university dance programs
such as Chapman University, Loyola Marymount University, UNLV, Cal State Long Beach, etc.

In 2005, he was awarded the "Dance: Creation for Performance" grant presented by Dance/USA
and the Irvine Foundation, with this award BARE Dance Company was born.

In 2005, he founded BARE Dance Company in Southern California, but in 2012 the company
relocated to New York City.

RECOGNITION

He has been a finalist at the Palm Desert Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival in 2006,
2008, 2009 and 2010 taking second place in 2009 and winning the paid engagement award in 2010.

In 2011, he choreographed a short film produced by Germay's Twistville, called "Big Breakin'".

BARE was nominated for numerous Lester Horton awards for productions in the Southern California
including Manhattan.

He currently teaches contemporary jazz at Peridance, Steps on Broadway and serves as a guest
teacher at Broadway Dance Center. (in New York City)

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I admire Mike Esperanza and his choreography. His pieces are always very
interesting and unique. I love how Mike incorporates his visual designs into his
choreography, to create unique movements and presentations on stage. MIke
Esperanza is an inspiration because although he doesn't have a BFA in dance,
but graphic design, he was able to create a highly successful dance company.
