appears. Click on it and itll take you to your
public profile. On the right hand side you can
edit your URL to something a little easier to
remember.
This is a really useful page in general. Heres
where you can edit how people see your
public profile. You can choose whether
everyone sees your profile, or only your
contacts, and which sections of your profile
you want people to see. So if for instance,
your Interests section is a hot mess youd
rather not share, then you can untick it, and
no one will be any the wiser.

With LinkedIn, its common wisdom that
midweek (Tuesday-Thursday) either first thing
in the morning (pre 8.30am), lunchtime,
and early evening (5-6pm) are the best times
to share updates. This makes sense as the
audience will be checking LinkedIn while
commuting or in their lunch break.
The best way to work out optimal times is
through testing. Buffer for example, shows
the optimal posting times (in different time
zones!) for each social media account,

them go and take another look at them.

who?, how?, why?, and the often
missed so what?. Its these story
elements that will make your data
relevant and tangible for your audience.

Think of your analysis as a story use

When crafting a data-rich story, think about:
Who are the characters? What challenges
have to be overcome? And what do you
want your audience to do as a result? It
starts with analysing the data and uncovering
your findings. Use data visualisation tools to

Next, write out the storyboard which
represents the structure and form of your
story. The storyboard will help you to think
about the best analogies or metaphors, to

To capture your audiences attention, think


about how you can take a data fact and make
it personal, relatable, and perhaps emotional.
Use a metaphor or anecdote to make the data
more memorable. Selectively present core facts
and data that prove your point. You can then
supplement hard data with qualitative data.

Be visual think of yourself as a film

Symbols, graphs, and pictures are effective
communication devices. A well-chosen visual
easily tells the story in a single glance. On the
other hand, tables of data or numbers can be
confusing. Create well-formed visual analysis,
charts, and graphs.
Think about when you may have to present
facts and data that are not great news for
your audience. For instance, to communicate
information about a fast-encroaching
competitor, a graphic image showing a predator
on the trail of its prey may be more effective
than a table of declining numbers. It also
