1. I arrived at time this week with time to
get all my materials together, get my
assignment, meet my nurse and get report
with her.
2.
I am getting more comfortable
with delegating tasks to the techs. This
week I needed a wheelchair for a
patient and did not have time to go
look for one, so I delegated the task to
my nurse tech.
3.
I had 4 patients this week and
they were all pretty high acuity but I
think I did well balancing all of their
needs effectively.
4.
This week, my nurse was pulled
onto another unit at 11:00 so I helped
her give report to the nurse who was
taking over her assignment,
5.
I am getting way more
comfortable and more efficient at
charting. My nurse went over my
assessments and charting with me and
only had to modify a couple of things.
6.
I stayed close with my nurse and
knew what my tech was doing to know
which care activities I needed to take
into my own hands.
7.
I went with my nurse to her
meeting with the care manager and
also helped with one of my patient
during her time in physical therapy.

make her do anything that wasnt in

the best interest of her health and
healing process.
2.
My nurse showed me how to
look through all of the assigned tasks
on each patient and explained to me
how she prioritizes these tasks and
which she does first.
3.
I taught a patient about the need
to place a pillow under her knee after
her surgery but also the importance of
not leaving her knee in the same
position for long periods of time to
avoid forming scar tissue.
4.
I always make an effort to talk
to the family members of the patients
and make sure I ask them if they need
anything before I leave the room each
time.
5. I had to do a rather lengthy assessment
on a patient this week so I made sure to
ask her about her kids and grandkids and
we ended up talking a lot throughout the
day and forming a good relationship.

1.
Even though we have to be with
our nurse the majority of the time, I
made sure to do my assessments on
my own time and to make sure and
help my nurse with simple things
(getting water or ice packs for patients
etc...) as often as I could.
2.
One of my patients was very
needy and was exaggerating her pain
very much, which my nurse knew but
we both kept a positive attitude and
encouraged the patients to make small
steps to reach her goal.
3.
I always make sure to ask my
nurse if there is anything I can do
better, and to look through my charting
and correct anything they see that
could be different or better.
4.
Even though we are under the
supervisio of a nurse I make sure to
take full responsibility for the care I
am providing to the patient.
5.
I did not have any diverse
patients this week.
6.

Faculty Comments:
I love this clinical rotation so far. I love
taking opportunities to learn and make
sure to tell my nurse that I want to help
as much as I can even if the patient being
worked with is not necessarily my
patient that day. I want to see as much as
I can in order to get a more
comprehensive experience.
