In the 2012 presidential election, current President Barack Obama won his second term in
office over Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Now less than four years later, the 2016
presidential primaries are in session in preparation for the presidential election on November 8th.
The current candidates are Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sandersfor the Democratic Partyand
Ted Cruz, John Kasich, and Donald Trumpfor the Republicans. Although it is inevitable for
presidential candidates to have the media on them, one candidate seem to enjoy the spotlight
Mr. Donald Trump. Trump and his supporters (he actually has those!) has been getting a lot of
attention for their words as well as their actions. Based on his current campaign, Donald Trump
is not far from being considered the worst presidential candidate yet.
Donald J. Trump is very openly racist and has no shame in the xenophobic comments he
has been feeding his supporters. He has been greatly hurtful towards racial minorities especially
African Americans, Hispanics, and Muslims. In 2011, Trump said, I have a great relationship
with the blacks. Ive always had a great relationship with the blacks. First, his reference to
Black people as the blacks is in itself very demeaning. However, the real issue lies in the fact
that his familys real estate company was sued by the Justice Department for not renting to
African Americanstwice. He called out to President Obama, questioning whether or not the
president was really born in the United States; and even though it has been proven that President

Obama was indeed born in the States (Hawaii), Trump continues to allude to his previous
statement. Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders retorted back to Trump, Like Obama, I am the
son of an immigrant father. Nobody has ever asked me for my birth certificate. Maybe its
because of the color of my skin being different than Obamas. Also, Trump was criticized by
fellow Republican candidate Ted Cruz and former candidate Marco Rubio for not disclaiming the
support of the KKK and its former leader David Duke because he did not know enough about the
organization or its former leader.
In his presidential announcement speech on June 16th last year, Trump said, [Mexico is]
sending people that have lots of problems, and theyre bringing those problems with us. Theyre
bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. He also talks about building a great,
great wall on our southern border and will have Mexico pay for that wall. Donald Trump also
targets Muslims. Back in 2011 when asked whether there was a Muslim problem Trump
replied with, Absolutely, yes I didnt see Swedish people knocking down the World Trade
Center. He continued with, The Quran is very interesting. A lot of people say it teaches love
But theres something there that teaches some very negative vibe In December, he stated,
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United
States until our countrys representatives can figure out what is going on. Trumps campaign
slogan Make America Great Again does not call for a greater Americait calls for a whiter
America. Trump wants to divide America; he wants to instill fear in the hearts of the American
people. Is that really what a president of the United States of America should be like?
Donald Trump is a compulsive liar. PolitiFact.com, a Pulitzer Prize awardee for National
Reporting, rated 77 of Trumps statements and ruled 76% of them as Mostly False, False, or
Pants on Fire. For example, Trump claimed ignorance of David Duke on February 28th of this

year, but he actually has had run-ins with the former KKK leader multiple times beforejust
two days before the 28th, in August of 2015, in 2000, and in 1991. Second, on November 22nd, he
shared an image claiming that the percentage of Whites killed by other Whites is 16% and that of
Whites killed by Blacks is 81%. However, data from the FBI shows the oppositethe
percentage of Whites being killed by Whites is 82% and Whites being killed by Blacks is 15%.
Also, in an interview with NBC in July last year, Trump stated, The Mexican government forces
many bad people into our country because theyre smart Theyre forcing people into our
country And they are drug dealers and they are criminals of all kinds. We are taking Mexicos
problems. The co-director of the Mexican Migration Project, Douglas Massey, said that
undocumented migration from Mexico was driven largely by US labor demand and by the
existence of well-developed migrant networks that provided migrants with access to US labor
markets despite a rising enforcement effort. He also added, Mexico has never had a policy of
pushing migrants toward the United States Mexican migration is tied to social and economic
circumstances on both sides of the border. How is it that people continue to believe what
Donald Trump says out of his mouth? Did he not lie enough for them? Or do they just refuse the
truth and instead prefer to live in their white privilege bubble?
In addition, Donald Trumps campaign has some rather interesting supporters. At a
campaign in Alabama back in November, a Black protester began to chant Black lives matter.
This resulted in the man being attacked by Trump supportersto which Trump responded with,
Maybe [the protester] should have been roughed up. It was absolutely disgusting what he was
doing. And in response to two of his supporters beating up a homeless Hispanic man he said, I
will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they
want this country to be great again. This is evidence that Trump condones violence towards

minorities, a behavior which should not be taken lightly. A social experiment team, SoFlo,
showed Hitler quotes disguised as Trump quotes to his supporters. Many of his supporters
thought well of the quotes. In the end, when it was revealed that Hitler was the actual source of
these quotes, many were shocked but continued to support Trump anyway. One man went as far
to say, Well if Donald Trump said them, Id support them. This shows that Trump supporters
want to vote for him just to do so but they do not really understand what he talks about. His
supporters in Ohio were asked what would happen if he does not win; responses include God
will smite us! Our freedom to speak our minds will suffer. Communism will form if Trump
doesnt win! We will be a bankrupt third world country overrun by illegals. I would cry
myself to sleep every day and get gay married. We did not have this problem when slavery was
in. Donald Trumps supporters are a reflection of himselfish, racist bigots who are ignorant to
issues that do not concern them.
These are not all of the reasons as to why Donald Trump should not be elected for
president. It is ridiculous that he is even winning the Republican primaries. He is racist and is a
liar. He is immature and greatly misinformed. Though there are going to be people who will
remain stubborn in their support for Trump, the American people will not be brainwashed by an
orange, toupee-d man. I know that we will elect the best candidate for the America we know now
and that is not Donald J. Trump.
