1. General information
The installation consists of an energy efficient cooling installation.
This installation will replace the existing water-cooled installation on the ground floor. The
existing installation is still running on R22. Consequently these coolants should be removed
and destroyed in accordance with the applicable standards.
The new cooling machine will be placed on the roof and will be air-cooled.
A glycol circuit will be provided for the protection of the cooling group. The distribution to
the users will be on ice-water. The existing manifolds can be reused as much as possible. A
new control system for the fan coil units in the offices will be provided in the technical room
on the top floor. The pipes will be connected on the ground floor, this way the current
distribution is maintained.

Calculation
Conclusion
The buffer vessel (load of 30 kN) should not be placed anywhere on the
floor, but on top of the concrete beam on axis C.
The existing floor is calculated for a maximum load of 5 kN/m.
Other equipment can be placed in the technical room as long as the max.
load is not exceeded.

6. Closing Remarks
This calculation is only valid after analysing by a recognised expert in
structural engineering.
A brief calculation of the existing roof results in the conclusion that the
indication on the as-built plans considering a mobile load of 3.5 kN/m is
not correct. The real mobile load is max. 1 kN/m.
This results in a secondary steel structure for the Chiller on the roof.
If the position or the load of the Chiller should change, then the
calculations will need to be redone.
As far as the technical room on the roof is concerned : the floor is
calculated for a maximum load of 5 kN/m. Any equipment that exceeds
this load will need to be supported by a secondary structure which will
need to be calculated.
The buffer vessel (load of 30 kN) should be placed on top of the concrete
beam on axis C as indicated in the drawing.
