Demonstration #3 Dance Music to Beat Based Pop


DUE: Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
Look at the list of following songs, pick one song, practice it
extensively on your guitar and demonstrate for Ms. Thorlakson.
These demonstrations will be marked against a rubric that we will
discuss and decide upon during class.
You will need to include the following:
One verse and one chorus of a song selected or approved
by Ms. Thorlakson
A brief description (1 minute) of the social or historical
background of this piece.
Something interesting about the piece that you discovered in
your research (meaning behind the lyrics, interesting fact
about the musician, interesting relation to what was going on
contextually at the time).
These demonstrations may be done in person (privately) during
the last class time before it is due or outside of class time. These
demonstrations may also be done by video recording, provided
that all the required aspects are included, emailed to
meagan.thorlakson@lethsd.ab.ca. They will be due, at the
latest, the Monday morning before class.
Each demonstration will be work 20% of your mark, totaling 60%
of your mark for this unit.

Dmonstration #3 options:
These are just the pieces we have covered in class, if
there is a song that you would like to do that falls into one
of these genres and time periods, just see Ms. Thorlakson
to have it approved.
Keep in mind that some of these songs might not translate
as well onto the guitar, choose wisely.
