Macy
(First)

My contact with this student:

I had the pleasure of working with Macy during the Fall 2014 semester. I was her clinical instructor for
NURS 356, Foundations of Nursing Care. This course integrates the principles of beginning medical
and surgical nursing skills, theory, research, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, and provided nursing
care on both the long-term care and dementia units in the long-term care facility she was assigned to. I
had the opportunity to observe Macy in clinical practice, lecture, and development sessions, including
simulation and lab settings.

What are the applicants major strengths? Macy is an unusually strong student, and what makes her
memorable is her compassion, maturity, and composure as a student nurse. Macy is well-suited to an
intensive care or emergency room environment, as she has excellent critical thinking skills combined with
the ability to remain calm and focused under stressful circumstances. Macy consistently displays a high
level of professionalism, and she exemplifies the best qualities of the nursing profession, including a
strong commitment to service and the ability to be an effective patient advocate. Macy has excellent
interpersonal skills, therapeutic communication skills, and works well both independently and in a team
environment.

What is your overall evaluation of this student compared with others at the same level in your program?
Macy is a very gifted and talented student, who again is memorable for her personal integrity, work ethic,
and ability to care for others. She will make an outstanding nurse, and will be an asset to any
organization she works for. I recommend Macy without qualification for any entry level nursing position,
and especially in an intensive care, critical care, or emergency department nursing. Feel free to contact
me if you have any additional questions or concerns.
