3. Experience science as a form of inquiry through which one makes sense
of the natural world, demonstrate knowledge of the nature of science and
of the integrated nature of "the sciences" (biological, physical, and earth
sciences) as appropriate for the elementary school curriculum.
Name of artifact that demonstrates your competence in meeting this
objective:

Science Inquiry Lesson Plan; for this assignment I created lesson plan for a fifth
grade class where they explored and investigated volume, density and mass
with various objects.

How does this artifact demonstrate your competency in meeting this

objective?

This assignment was the most challenging for me because I wasnt sure how to
go about asking questions, pondering natural phenomenons and investigating
through the lens of an inquisitor. Everything seemed so mundane until I tried
to visualize everything to the view point of a child. I planned a lesson
comparing the density of water to other objects. I was able to use central
concepts and inquiry tools to structure a developmentally appropriate content
area lesson plan with assessments.

How does the artifact inform your thinking about teaching? Include any
other reflections and/or comments.

My plan after this experience is to be able to constantly explore science

concepts and content through higher level thinking skills in order to promote
independent learning while addressing local and global issues.
