SOLUTION GAS

VAPOR
RECOVERY
(VRU)

Soluon Gas Compressors are designed to recover hydrocarbons (rich gas vapors) evaporang
from liquid petroleum during storage and handling. The compressor captures vapors that form inside
crude oil or condensate tanks, compresses those vapors and injects them into a higher pressure system.

BENEFITS OF THE SAGE ENERGY SYSTEM

Flexible - 100% turndown to meet a wide range of operang condions and applicaons
Reliable - Proven reliability to eliminate nuisance shutdowns and increase run me
Proven - Over 700 units in operaon with our Freeze Proof Design.

Sweet / Sour (H2S and CO2)

Soluon Gas (Liquid rich with
high inlet temperatures)
Specic Gravies up to 1.5
Discharge capabilies in
excess of 400 psi

HOW IT WORKS
Maintain Oil Storage Tank Pressure
Maintaining constant pressure in the oil storage tank just slightly above 0 psig is crical to protect the tank
integrity. Tank pressure is connuously monitored using a pressure transmi er.

Adjust for the Required Flow

By monitoring the pressure at or near the tanks we can adjust the driver speed, compressor slide valve and
bypass valve to provide 0% to 100% of the required ow. A wide operang range is crical to accommodate
the worst case design point as well as the normal operang points of the system.

Maintain Discharge Temperatures

Operang pressures, gas analysis and inlet temperatures, allow us to calculate the actual water and
hydrocarbon dew point temperatures. This informaon is the basis for how warm to operate the screw
compressor and maintain a discharge temperature at least 20F above the dewpoint. There are several
opons to maintain the discharge temperature but the key is to ensure liquids cannot drop out of the gas
during the compression process.

Freeze Proof Cooling

The unique indirect oil and gas cooling system SAGE
oers has proven to be a huge benet on soluon gas
applicaons where the gas is heavy, warm and water
saturated. Many convenonal cooling systems result in
cold weather operang issues causing nuisance
shutdowns and costly downme.

WHY IT WORKS
Constant pressure is maintained in the oil storage tank.
Screw compressors provide a much wider operang
range and be er turn down than rotary vanes.

The discharge temperature remains at least 20F

above the dewpoint to ensure liquids do not drop out.
Compressor lube oil or process gas are not exposed
to ambient temperatures.
