watched my video as well.
I divided my students into small groups at the
end of the lesson for the practice, however it
could have gone smoother. I just had the groups
be students close to each other that the teacher
had already paired up for the most part,
however I could have made the groups more
diverse.
Teaching/Learning
B. The Classroom

o

I arrange the seating in my class to suit the

class activity for the day.
I consider the physical comfort of the room
such as heat and light.
When I need special materials or equipment, I
have them set up before the class begins.

Literacy
C. Presentation

My handwriting on the blackboard and /or

charts is legible from all locations in the
classroom. It is large enough to accommodate
students with vision impairments.
I speak loudly enough to be heard in all parts of
the classroom and I enunciate clearly.
I vary the exercises in class, alternating rapid
and slow paced activities to keep up maximum
interest level in the class.
I am prepared to give a variety of explanations,

Notes:
I had the students stay in their normal seats for
this lesson and I think it worked appropriately
for the lesson. All of the students could see
what I was teaching and what they needed to
take notes on.
I had all of my materials and posters set up
before I taught so that it went very smoothly
when it was time to teach and the students did
not get distracted.

Notes:
I worked very hard when I prepared my posters
to use neat handwriting that was big enough for
the students to read. All of the students were
able to read and copy down what I wrote.
I could clearly hear my voice on the video that
was taken from the back of the room and I
enunciated my words, I think that the students
were able to easily understand what I was
saying.
I could have varies the activities in the lesson

models or descriptions, understanding that

one explanation may not be sufficient for all
students.
I help the students form working principles and
generalizations.
Students use new skills or concepts long
enough so that they are retained and thus future
application is possible.
I plan for "thinking time for my students so
they can organize their thoughts and plan what
they are going to say or do.

Diversity
D. Culture and Adjustment
o I am aware that cultural differences affect the
learning situation.
o I keep the cultural background(s) of my
students in mind when planning daily activities
and am aware of culture misunderstandings
which might arise from the activities I choose.
o I work for an atmosphere of understanding and
mutual respect.
o I tell students when they have done well, but I
don't let praise become mechanical.
o My activites are varied, some more visual,
aural, oral and kinesthetic. I provide models,
examples, and experiences to maximize
learning in each of these areas.

Professionalism
B. Self-concepts
I treat my students with the same respect that I
expect them to show me.
I plan "one-centred" activities which give all students
an opportunity at some point to feel
important and accepted.
C. Aptitude and Perception
I am aware that my students learn differently.
My exercises are varied, some ore visual, aural, oral
and kinesthetic. I provide models,
examples, and experiences to maximize learning in each
of these areas.
I finish my class period in a way which will review

more to have the students sitting and listening

to me for less time.
I tried to show this concept in a variety of
ways, but I could have done more such as used
manipulatives or done more drawings to show
the concept.
We did a lot of class together as a class so that
the students knew exactly what to do when they
were given their practice later on in the lesson.
There were times when I told the students to
wait and think before answering so that I knew
they had think time to get their thought
together.

Notes:
I was aware of cultural differences in the
classroom and how that can come into play in
the classroom, however I do not think there
were really any cultural misunderstandings that
affected my lesson.
I did my best to make sure my students knew I
respected them because they respected me.
I definitely praise my students, but I may do it a
little too much sometimes, however I did not
praise them if they were wrong, I tried to guide
them toward the right answer.
I did not really have kinesthetic activities in this
particular lesson, but I tried to let them work
with the material in many different ways.

I think that I treated my students with

respect, and I expected them to treat
me in the same way.
I could have given each of the
students more opportunities to shine,
but I do think when they worked
together to create a problem they
were all able to show different
aspects of it that they were good at.
I know that my students learn
differently, though I could have added
even more variety to this particular
lesson.
I provided a number of models and

the new concepts presented during the class period. My
students can immediately evaluate their understanding
of those concepts.
III. The Activity
A. Interaction
The activities maximize student involvement.
The activities are organized to insure a high success
rate, leaving enough room for error to make the activity
challenging.
The activity is focused.
The activity is geared to the proficiency level of my
class or slightly beyond.
I make the content of the activity relevant and
meaningful to my students' world.

examples and even included the

students in the problems to keep
them engaged in the learning.
When I end the lesson, we review
over what we learned and what was
important.
The practice let all of the students be
involved in the lesson and show what
they learned.
I think that the activity was
challenging enough for the students,
it was harder than what we had done
as practice together so that it
challenged them.
This activity was very focused on the
learning target for the day and it was
at a level that my class could handle.
I did my best to relate the content to
my students so that they could
connect with it and see how it could
be used day to day.
