Describing the Weather


To talk about weather, you will often use the verb hacer.

To talk about weather, you will often use the verb hacer.
Que tiempo hace? Whats it like out?
Hace (mucho) calor Its (very) hot

(mucho) fresco

(very) cold

(mucho) sol
(very) sunny

(mucho) viento
(very) windy

(muy) buen tiempo

When you talk about wind or sun, you can


also use hay.

(very) windy
Use the verbs LLover and nevar to say it is raining or
snowing. They are verbs with stem changes, just like
jugar and pensar.
Llueve mucho en el bosque tropical.
It rains a lot in the tropical rain forest.
Nieva mucho en Minnesota
It snows a lot in Minnesota

To say that its cloudy, use the


expression
est nublado.

No vamos a la playa porque esta nublado.


Were not going to the beach because its
cloudy.

Direct objects Pronouns

The direct object in a sentences receives the

action of the verb. Direct objects answer the


question whom? Or what? about the verb.
Nouns used as direct objects can be replaced by
pronouns.

The direct object noun is placed


after the conjugated verb.

When an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, the direct

object pronoun can be placed.

I need to take pictures of the rain forest. I want to take them

He could also have said:

progressive
When you want to say that an action is

happening now, use the present


progressive.

To form this tense, use:


the present tense of the verb estar +

present participle
To form the present participle of a verb,
drop the ending of the infinitive and add
ando or iendo.

When the stem of an er or ir verb


ends in a vowel, change the iendo
