EFL Learners, which transit realities of their culture to English language. I found this
argument using the search engine provided by CSUN Oviatt Library. I searched for
the use of euphemisms and found the article after checking the search results. It is a
peer-reviewed source, which is why I know that it is trustworthy and I may use the
provided information in my essay. I will use this article because it has a good
explanation of the origins of the usage of euphemisms in languages. I will cite this
resource when characterizing the functions of euphemisms in language.

in my research as a valid scientific source. This source will be useful for my paper
because it provides relevant information connecting the existence of taboo topics and
the usage of euphemisms. I will use this information in order to trace connection
between the attempts of people to avoid punishments or critique caused by their
discussion by means of usage of euphemisms.

stating that the difference of presentation of scenarios of rape with and without the
usage of euphemisms affects the peculiarities of audiences perception. I found this
information by using CSUN Oviatt Library and its search engine searching for
euphemism usage. This journal is trustworthy because it is present in a peerreviewed journal. This resource is useful for my essay because it demonstrates that
people tend to be more appealing to negative information in the case it is presented
through the framework of euphemisms. Therefore, I will use this information as one
of the examples supporting position that euphemisms may change the perception of
information by addressees.

because it discusses the aspects of the usage of euphemisms in politics. I will use it
for supporting the position of the paper by the examples of the analysis of political
speeches where euphemisms pursue the aim of hiding negative information.

This article discusses the usage of euphemisms in the societies where there are
taboos on specific topics preventing people from mentioning various topics. I found
this argument using the Lexis-Nexis search engine, which is available at CSUN Oviatt
Library searching for euphemism influence. It is a peer-reviewed article, which is
why it can be used in my paper. This resource will be useful for my essay because it
gives the supporting evidence for a positive usage of euphemisms in the case of
avoiding social critique when mentioning tabooed topics. I will use the ideas of this
article for providing positive example of the usage of euphemisms in the discussions
of various topics.
