learning how to decipher what information is credible or invalid is an important
piece of communication as we begin to understand we cant believe everything we
read and hear.

EVALUATION

Students complete documentation of assigned roles, fulfillment of roles, and


overall contribution throughout the unit lesson.
Students complete a self-assessment and assessment of their peers and the
collaboration experience in a reflection paper upon completion.
Teacher evaluates final Wikipedia page project per class created assignment rubric
Students experience ongoing assessments from Wikipedia community according
to the acceptance or edited variations of their work.

UNIT LESSON PLAN


DESCRIPTION

Lesson one:
Students will work in groups of 2-3 in a subject of their choice. They will
learn to create a Wikipedia user account, learn to navigate around the site,
become familiar with the language, and locate a page that needs further
development.

Lesson two:
Students will begin research to develop Wikipedia page collaboratively, and
verifying sources.

Lesson three:
Students will begin developing Wikipedia page by accurately adding content
and sources used. Students will log and record their individual additions to
the page as part of their assignment to turn in.

Wiki editing/publishing

Lesson four:
Students will continue to develop and improve their Wikipedia page,
keeping an accurate record of their individual contributions.

Practice all skills from technological lessons
Lesson five:
Students will finalize editing their Wikipedia page. They will reflect on the
progress or lack of progress made, how it felt to work collaboratively on a
group, and as an online community.
