Organics Trial Survey

394

Very supportive of this and any other initiatives to increase recycling & minimise waste to landfill

12/14/2015 9:45 AM

395

The organic bin after 2 weeks usually has an accumulation of little insects. Not every week that the bin is full or even
half full but having a very large garden can get rid of tree or garden cuttings easier than before. With 1 person in the
house my dark green bin is now too large

12/14/2015 9:40 AM

396

Fantastic.

12/14/2015 9:34 AM

397

Only used once

12/14/2015 9:33 AM

398

I love my organic W!3Ste bin. It has significantly reduced the household waste that ends up in landfill. As an
environmentally conscious person who does not have the time I know now how to compost I think it is an incredibly
valued service. Thankyou.

12/14/2015 9:25 AM

399

I think the trial is certainly to be commended as a step forwards managing and recycling organic waste. However I do
not need to be involved because I have been managing kitchen organic waste and garden pruning's for many years.

12/1412015 9:19 AM

400

It is essential that residents with large gardens are able to properly dispose of lawn clippings and other garden
material otherwise it will find its way into the waste bin so we suggest that residents be offered 1 of the following as an
option alternative. 1. 2 organic bins collected fortnightly or 2. 1 organic bin collected weekly from 1 October to 31
March and fortnightly from 1 April to 30 Septmeber

12/14/2015 9:10 AM

401

OK if above problems are address, I also consider that there maybe potential health issues with fortnightly pick up.

12/14/2015 9:03 AM

402

I do not like the extra bin not required. Problem fortnightly waste and smells.

12/14/2015 8:54 AM

403

Seem to suit our house

12/1412015 8:44 AM

404

Its been good but needs refining to be utilised better in day to day needs.

12/14/2015 8:38 AM

405

Occasionally have ants in the kitchen already. Not sure how we acquire new kitchen caddy liners when we have used
these initially perished

12/14/2015 8:27 AM

406

I have found that the red lid bin gets smelly at times having raw meat wrappings in it and being emptied fortnightly.

12114/2015 8:23 AM

407

I dislike it very much and due to that am moving suburbs so my general waste will be collected appropriately, other
wise I will have no choice then to put general waste such as dog droppings into green waste bin.

1211412015 8:17 AM

408

We are very happy with the current set up

12/14/2015 8:10 AM

409

As a small business the caddy isn't really used. Was useful for green waste from the garden.

12/14/2015 8:07 AM

410

Have not been notified of the cost. 3 bins takes up a lot of room near garage. Not sure if the organics bin is necessary.

12/1412015 7:59 AM

411

It is interesting to note that this survey has not asked any questions regarding the yellow lid recycling bin? 1) Does this
suggest that this collection will not continue-over yellow bin is full every collection. 2) should we be putting papers and
cardboard in the green bin?

12/14/2015 7:53 AM

412

Great concept

12/14/2015 7:48 AM

413

A great initiative but 2 weeks is quite sometime to wait for pick up.

12114/2015 7:47 AM

414

no other than what will it cost us per year

12/14/2015 7:39 AM

415

We fear the use of organic bin will incur extra costs unsolicited by the rate payer. A calendar for collections would be
much appreciated to come out with our rates notice.

12/14/2015 7:38 AM

416

Seems to be working well and have adjusted quite easily to new regime.

1211412015 7:21 AM

417

As above. Roll out the system but allow exemptions for home composting. We fully support the system but already
solved our own problem.

12/14/2015 7:09 AM

418

I know it would be horder but there should be varied kitchen caddy sizes to choose from. The current size would be
good for families or large households but the caddy is far too big for small households unless you waste the kitchen
caddy liners. We are at the point we can't use the caddy due to the smell and the mould unless we start waisting the
liners and putting them out 1/4 full. A smaller caddy could be emptied more frequently.

12111/2015 !i:00 PM

419

insects and ants in the bench caddy as not emptied daily

12111/2015 3:17 PM

420

No, well yes actually- I love it!! As I find it difficult in terms of transport and finance to get to landfill it was extremely
convenient for me.

12/11/2015 2:48 PM

421

Great!

12111/2015 10:36 AM

422

I commend you on the purpose of this trial! Thank you!

Organics Trial Survey

537

the supply of green bags will not last 1 year but I think that there are more available. will the compost be available for

12/8/2015 11:18 AM

households?

538

Thank you, green bin very useful!

12/8/2015 10:57 AM

539

good idea for all households, it can only increase in volume.

12/8/2015 10:55 AM

540

I will not take part in this trail at all and require council to remove bin. Why cant there be local contractors?

12/8/2015 9:54 AM

541

I do not use the kitchen caddy, I keep the scraps in a bag at the bottom of the refrigeration unit

12/8/2015 9:53 AM

There are a lot more flys hanging around and to be honest if a food waste item has too long for the fortnightly pick up

12/8/2015 9:44 AM

542

we put it in the regular bin as it is going soon.

543

Wonderful! Has allowed us to compost our waste efficiently and effectively. we really hope that the program will be

12/8/2015 9:29 AM

adopted and continued as a permanent arrangement. Thank you, a wonderful service, great for the environment.

544
545

do not like that. man sneaking around checking bins, waste of money

12/8/2015 9 25 AM

Drop it. But lets face it this council doesn't do much as what their residents want. We know own out house and I hope

12/8/2015 9:21 AM

I never see a red lidded bin again.

546

why have people fill the bin with paper when they already have a recycling bin. I live where there are f bins and one

12/8/2015 9:19 AM

was full of paper so why have both.

547

Do not generally use the kitchen caddy as I refuse to leave scrapes in there. I only use a bag when I know I have

12/8/2015 9:13 AM

enough to fill it in one session. IE dinner

548

I find ants are attracted to my kitchen tody. the smell of the green lid bin is disgusting inside and it is dirty once it has

12/8/2015 9:09 AM

been emptied.

549

Just don't have enough waste to use it.

12/8/2015 9:07 AM

550

great idea in theory but not for those that already do it at home.

12/8/2015 8:58 AM

551

3 bins takes up a lot of space

12/8/2015 8:53 AM

552

Maybe red bin could be collected weekly.

12/8/2015 8:42 AM

553

I think it is great, just need a bigger red bin to fit all the general waste

12/8/2015 8:38 AM

For the kitchen caddy I think for it to work if it was to go ahead, the council would need to provide the green waist

12/8/2015 8:32 AM

554

bags for free as lazy people would just use normal No Biodegradable bags in them. All over I think it was a big hit in
out household. Training my husband to use the bin was the only hard part.

555

I will continue to use the green organics bin its helpful and environmentally friendly.

12/8/2015 8:28 AM

556

as they contain food it will get very smelly in summer if they are only getting picked up fornightly

12/8/2015 8:27 AM

we have put the bin out once, our main use will be at the end of the tomato season to get rid of the old plants. Also old

12/8/2015 8:19 AM

557

rose branches. We do not use the kitchen caddy as we compost all our food scraps, tissues etc.

558

I think it is a great idea!

12/8/2015 7:59 AM

559

As long as it remains free we will keep using it, otherwise forget it.

12/8/2015 7:46 AM

560

I don't need to fill in this survey as I don't have enough waste to recycle.

12/8/2015 7:39 AM

561

Excellent System

12/8/2015 7:33 AM

562

Don't wish to pay any more for the service provided. IE no cost increase

12/8/2015 7:14 AM

563

I think it is a wonderful initiative. I do hope people have utilised it to the max and also hope that households don't
abuse the system by using the bins in an incorrect way.

12/8/2015 6:58 AM

Hi Bridget, On average we produce 120 litres of rubbish per week which is Y, as much as the City caters for. About Y,

12/7/2015 8:00 PM

564

of our rubbish is organic, Y, is recyclable, and our general rubbish is negligible. My preference is for a 120 litre pick up
per week -alternating between organic and recycle. General rubbish to be placed in a small secure clearly marked bag with
the recyclable bin. I think that we should be encouraging less garbage not more.

565

Great idea. Would be good lo see il processed locally instead of having to be trucked to Shepparton.

1217/2015 4:33 PM

566

I think the green bin should be collected weekly

1217/2015 3:56 PM

I think the Green lid bin is great as I can put all of my garden waste in that and reduce what went into my red lid bin.

1217/2015 3:42 PM

567

the fortnightly pick up works great for me. Thanks'

Organics Trial Survey

568

Maybe more information and liaising with 'current vendor' in Bendigo It seems unprofessional usurping is a correct
definition.

12/7/2015 2:31 PM

569

Very happy, keep it up!! Thank you'!

12nt2015 2:24 PM

570

The initiative of the organics bin is an excellent one! Very useful and good for the environment.

12/7/2015 2:20 PM

571

the only thing I would say is that every household should have a choice to have it or not.

12/7/2015 2:03 PM

572

Please collect 4 bins from my house.

12/7/2015 1:54 PM

573

we feel that we will run out of liners over the 12 months, can we purchase more from council? overall very happy with
the three bin system.

1217/2015 11:53AM

574

I was angry when the bin was left at my door, I was not going to use it. don't have enough room for three bins in my
shed. very concerned with the cost of transporting the waste to Shepparton. will soon need to ask for more bags.
mainly full of branches and gumnuts from a tree on the nature strip that council will not allow me to remove. im
constantly filling it with branches. I do not want to pay extra for a bin that is mainly filled with council branches but
realise that our waste problem must be addressed. concerned that the existing company will be effected. they seem to
have a good reputation.

12/7/2015 11:48 AM

575

Because we are retirees and always recycle food etc plus don't need to purchase new white goods, furniture etc. our
need for packaging disposal is very small. one cap doesn't always suit all though.

12/7/2015 11:38 AM

576

Please keep it! I think its Great!

12/7/2015 11:29AM

577

At certain times of the year we would need our waste collected more frequently then fortnightly. eg Christmas. what is
in place if the bin is full before the fortnightly collection ?

1217/2015 10:36AM

578

the information packs we received prior to the trial were very informative plus the format of the brochure was great. I
found the collection calendar very helpful. my only issue with the program is the size of the bin as it is much too large
for my household, however this is not a major issue. thank you for introducing the program, I believe it will be very
successful and will have a great impact on the environment.

12/7/2015 10:30AM

579

difficult to tie the bag when it is full, needs extra length to tie off.

12/7/2015 10:21 AM

580

The system works well

12/7/2015 10:11AM

581

if people want an organics bin they can pay for it. I do not want or need another bin. to pay for if I am not using it. the
rates are expensive enough in Bendigo.

12/7/2015 10:06 AM

582

Certainly decreased the quantity by about 3/4 for the red bin.

12/712015 9:59AM

583

fortnightly collections for the red and green bins is too long. weekly would be better, especially during the very warm
months ahead.

12/7/2015 9:51 AM

584

we aren't interested in proceeding. we have a separate garden waste bin already which we will use only when the
organics trial is over.

12/7/2015 9:45 AM

585

we still use two greenaway bins because one organics bin would certainly NOT be adequate for our garden green
waste for fortnightly collections.

12/7/2015 8:42 AM

586

Anything to save council money must be a good thing as you can see there is so much waste

12/7/2015 8:17AM

587

My opinion is that the red bin should still be emptied weekly, even if the bins are not overfull, then individual
households can choose when they put their bins out according to their wastage.

12/5/2015 8:22 PM

588

the quality of the bags are really good, just wrong shape and need to tie closed.

12/512015 1:44 PM

589

Would like to see it continue, this initiative has reduced our household waste. Can the company already operating a
green waste business be included in this process in the future? Given the reduction or red bin collection i would not
expect rate increase if this were to go ahead permanently.

12/4/2015 5:22 PM

590

I am aware that my daughter will struggle with a fortnightly waste bin collection. she also finds that the recycle
fortnightly collection is inadequate for her family of six.

12/4/2015 10:19AM

591

please make the recycling weekly again. it fills up and we have to resort to putting recycling in the rubbish bin. and
then that fill sup too quickly as per the fortnightly collection

12/412015 10:06 AM

592

tip vouchers should be in your rates like Campaspe shire

12/412015 10:00AM

593

Would just like to see at least one bin get emptied every week to avoid the smell and maggots in the bin
