Checklist for Drawing requirements of Architectural Design Portfolio

A. Name Plate:
1. Name of the student, year, and subject.
2. Project, Drawing title and sheet no.

B. Conceptual drawing :

1. Idea, Process.
2. Data, Photographs, Sketches, Diagrams supporting concept.

C. Site Plan:

1. North symbol, numerical scale.


2. Boundary walls with dimensions and contours, levels incase of sloping or cut-fill site.
3. Adjoin roads ( with widths) and land use, Right of way( boundary to boundary)
4. Location of Gates with security cabin.
5. Approach road/s with width paved area.
6. Landscape features and materials, paving type and indicative trees.
7. Parking provision with symbols and nomenclature.
8. Entrance/s to the site and building.
9. Scio graphic shades & shadows indicating building height difference.
10. Existing building should be indicated with block and hatch, building dimension, side margins.

D. Floor plans:

Plans should be cut and drawn at 1.5 m above floor level.
Tonal variation in sectional, elevation, hidden annotation and dimension lines.
Filling or hatching to elements in section.
Entrance indication with symbol.
Up or down arrows with levels (at start and end of steps, staircase and ramp) and respective cut
lines symbol.
7. Continuation line to staircase after 1.5m level and upper risers with dotted line.
8. Width of all steps, ramps, passages, stairs, (ducts, courtyards).
9. Nomenclature and X Y dimensions to all rooms or spaces in m.
10. Chajja, canopy, Pergola, roof projection, to be indicated as thin dotted lines in all plans.
11. Tile drop between wet and dry areas.
12. Doors with shutters and swing arcs in continuous lines.
13. Open to sky portions to be indicated with thin line cross e.g. duct, etc.
14. Section cut lines, annotation, and direction.
15. Window- Two lines with tonal variation.
16. Opening- dotted lines with tonal variation.

E. Sections:
1. Sections preferably should be drawn through staircase, toilet, water tank, canopy, pergola,
chajja, roof covering.
2. Tonal variation in ground line, sectional and elevation lines.
3. Ground line to be discontinued below plinth in section.
4. Hatching for plinth filling in section should be shown.
5. Walls to be extended below plinth and terminated with cut lines symbol.
6. Numerical scale and human figures to proportion.
7. Ht-dimension- floor to floor level, lintel, landings and parapet top.

F. Elevations:
1. Numerical scale and human figures to proportion.
2. Trees, Landscape features as per drawing.
3. Scio graphic shades & shadows to explain massing.

G. Model :
