Most research has been focused on effects on physical rather than social environment

Why does human well being receive relatively short shrift?

Human dimensions of sustainability in management literature are coupled


with their connection to profits, cost or productivity

Another reason is the differential actions taken to make sustainability salient

Difference between environment and human sustainability derives from the


different actors in the two systems and the presumption of choice

Just as a green company helps in brand building, a human sustainable


company will attract and retain employees

Same as in the case of environmental pollution, companies that do not


focus on human sustainability impose externalities that others have to
pay

Human sustainability do pay off for companies, like companies at


higher rank in the Great Place to Work Institute rankings perform better
on stock market too
