Defining and Categorizing Goals Activity

Objective 1- Understand/Cognitive: After reading a handout defining the types of

goals, learner will define the 3 types of goals:
Short term, measurable goal
Long term, terminal goal
Non measurable goal
Objective 2- Comprehend/Cognitive: Given a list of 25 goals, the learner will
categorize goals into 3 groups. Criterion: Learner must categorize 23 of 25 correctly
to be proficient:
Short term, measurable goal
Long term, terminal goal
Non measurable goal
Long-term goals require a series of short-term goals to be completed first. Shortterm goals may take several years or several months to complete, depending on the
ultimate goal. Looking at what is necessary to achieve, your long-term goals puts
short-term goals into perspective. For instance a person cannot reach their quota
(long-term goal) without first engaging each decision maker in the sales process
(short-term goals). A measurable goal is one that can be defined and quantified. If
your goal cannot be quantified, this is a non-measurable goal

In your own words, define the following terms:

Short Team, Measurable GoalLong Term, Measurable GoalNon-Measurable Goal-

Categorize each goal into one of the following categories:

Short Team, Measurable Goal

Long Term, Measurable Goal
Non-Measurable Goal
