They are the little parish on the hill.

But the little parish on the hill has huge faith and
big reason to celebrate this month.
San Isidro Catholic Church in Malojloj is preparing
to celebrate its 40th Foundation Anniversary as a
parish in the Archdiocese of Agana.
Adorned with fruits, fauna and flora of Malojloj parish, one of
many floats featured in the San Isidro fiesta celebration May
18 makes its way through the village. On July 20, San Isidro
will celebrate the 40th year of being established a parish in
Guam. Photo courtesy of San Isidro parish.

San Isidro Catholic Church of Malojloj in the

Municipality of Inarajan officially became a parish
on July 21, 1973 with the appointment of her first
Pastor, Rev. Fr. Louis Brouillard, parish officials
said in an announcement this week.

This July 21, 2013 therefore, San Isidro Parish will celebrate her Fortieth (40th) Foundation
Anniversary or Ruby Jubilee, the announcement continued.
Since July 21, 2013 falls on a Sunday and is also the islandwide commemoration of Liberation Day
for Guam, it was decided that the event would be celebrated the day before, on Saturday, July 20,

2013 said Father Romy Convocar, Pastor of San Isidro.

Father Romy said the entire parish is excited about the upcoming celebration. The parish just
celebrated the feast day of San Isidro or Saint Isidore last May 18. San Isidro is the patron saint
of farmers, laborers and peasants.
The 40th year celebration on July 20 will begin with a traditional novena to Malojlojs patron saint
at 10:45 a.m. The Solemn Anniversary Mass will take place at 11 a.m. followed by the traditional
fellowship of na taotao tumano.
The Carmelite Monastery, now in Tamuning, was situated atop the hill next the church for many
decades. The parish has scheduled a tour of the former Carmelite Monastery which is now the
Carmel on the Hill Retreat Center between 1 to 3 p.m.
Father Romy and the faithful of Malojloj invite everyone to help them mark 40 years of faith and
devotion in Maloloj. Please come one and all and share our joy! Father Romy said.
