The focus of this meeting will be to showcase user GIS applications in transportation. This will be a great
opportunity to discover what’s going on in the field of transportation GIS and to learn from your peers.

“Feasibility Study for a Statewide Road Centerline Data Set” – Douglas Schleifer,
NJOIT-OGIS
Doug will present the results of this recently completed study by Fountains Spatial that examined the
feasibility of developing and maintaining a single, comprehensive statewide road centerline data set
that could serve the needs of the entire GIS user community in New Jersey.

“Interactive Detour Route Mapping (IDRuM): Linking GIS, Cartography and Web
Development” - Matthew West, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
DVRPC, in partnership with PennDOT, has developed the web-based IDRuM application that
organizes all existing PENNDOT Emergency Detour Routes within District 6 into a manageable, easy-
to-use interface.

“Conrail’s Use of GPS and GIS” - Larry Davis, Conrail
The transition from Class 1 railroad to terminal and switching railroad has created the need for new
and different management information and paved the way to much more fact-based management.
Conrail is using real-time GPS tracking to measure and manage asset utilization, work-force
management, and customer service.
