1 ment or representation, verbally or in writing, regarding
2 the person’s record of military service in the United States
3 Armed Forces, including, but not limited to, participation
4 in combat operations, for the purposes of gaining recogni-
5 tion, honorarium, official office, or other position of au-
6 thority, employment or other benefit or object of value as
7 a result of the statement, shall be fined under this title,
8 imprisoned not more than six months, or both.’’.
9 (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENTS.—
10 (1) HEADING AMENDMENT.—The heading of
11 such section is amended to read as follows:
12 ‘‘§ 704. Military medal or decorations; military serv-
13 ice’’.
