IML 140 introduces media-based research tools, presentation skills, and visual media creation within the context of a variety of subject areas and themes. Work undertaken in this particular section of IML-140 will center on the ‘study of digital media produced for the sciences. Students will have the Opportunity to use Web-based research and collaborative multimedia authoring tools in order to convey ideas related to their course work. Throughout the course of the semester, students will produce several projects, such as documentary and video remix, that emphasize audio-visual argumentation, data visualization, information design, sound design, images with textual annotation and digitally assisted oral Presentation. Students will learn to use many types of authoring software, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Prezi. IML 140 courses do not require any previous experience with multimedia authoring - the course activities can and will be tailored to various levels of media competency.
