 What is being provided
• a new community centre
• memorial garden
• playground and parking facilities 
• built to environmentally sustainable, energy 
and water efficient building principles
• fifteen direct and indirect jobs and additional 
skills training opportunities for residents
What are the objectives of the project?
• To assist healing, reconstruction and building hope for 
the future 
• To provide a community hub to address needs such as 
community services, training, skills development, 
community education and meeting place for social and 
craft activities
• To provide a function and meeting venue for medical 
and health professionals, psychological and financial 
counsellors, and officers from government agencies 
visiting the region 
What are the objectives of the project?
• To provide a permanent and suitable venue for 
the services already provided by Flowerdale 
Community House Inc. 
• To provide practical advice on fire resistant and 
environmentally sustainable building 
• To provide short term and long term 
employment opportunities for members of the 
local building and construction industry.

Oct 2009 DEEWR approves FCH Inc submission for 
community house and staff positions
Dec 2009 MSC agrees to provide former Jarara site 
for  location of new community house
Feb 2010 First meeting of Project Control Group
FCH finalise design components
Apr 2010 Design brief developed for tenderers
Tenders called
May 2010 FCH and MSC agree terms of lease for land
June 2010 Antarctica appointed as design firm
