Create a Micro‐SIM to SIM Converter

Tools

• Exacto Knife

• Pencil

• iPhone removal tools or something similar

Relevant parts

• iPhone Gen 1 SIM Card

• iPhone 4 Micro‐SIM Card

Step 1 — Create a Micro-SIM to SIM Converter

• Get everything you'll need:

o XACTO Knife
o Pencil
o SIM-Card removal tool, which comes with all iPhones except the iPhone 4.
o iPhone 4
o An older iPhone such as a iphone 2g or 3g or 3gs
Step 2

• Remove the SIM Card from both of the iPhones

o On the iPhone 4 the SIM Card tray is on the right side of the phone.
o On any older iPhone the SIM Card tray is on the top of the phone.

Step 3

• Use a pencil to trace the Micro-SIM on top of the older SIM-Card.

o Make sure the leads line up with the ones below them!

Step 4

• Use an XACTO Knife to cut on the line you traced.

o I recommend going lightly for the first couple of times to make a grove, then applying more
force to make the cut deeper. As it is very difficult to control the knife when applying the
force needed to cut the plastic.
o When you are nearly done, flip the SIM-Card over and complete the cuts, it is much easier
than trying to cut it all from one side.
• Then remove the piece you cut out.

Step 5

• Put your Micro-SIM Card into the hole you cut.

• If you cut the hole slightly too big, like i did, put a piece of tape over the back of the SIM-Card and
cut it out of the tape.
o I recommend doing this either way, as it would be bad if the Micro-SIM got stuck in your
phone.

Step 6

• Test it out. I put the Micro-SIM in the converter into an iPhone 2G to test it out, and everything
works great!
