Case study : Trouble At Computex Corporation

The trouble arise when six representative in computex corporation disatisfy with the

behavior and character of of Mr. , General Manager of Computex Sweden. These representative

stated that they feel uncomfortable with the manager’s behavior, some also feel that they were

viewed as tools of new manager. Mr. Miller loses his temper almost daily and his reaction are

not equivalent to the possible error . therefore , employees always feel strain when facing him .

in addition , they stated that the visions and the values that Mr.  is communicating during

meetings turn out to be only words and are not implemented. All of which heavily affect

employee’s performance.

Through the case , we can clearly that the employees in computex are facing a stressful

situation . but whether it is come from difference management style between each culture or

come from the individual problems. In my opinion , the underlying cause in this cause main

atribute to the difference in culture between the general manager and the employees. The

management style of the new manager is difference from Swede business environment. In order

to shorten this gap , the manger need to develop business policies and practices that are culture

sensitive and understand about the management style in each culture.

           In order to solve this misunderstanding , gathering such relevent information is necessary.

Therefore, if I were peter , I would like to set up a meeting between the employees and the
manager. This is important because everybody has to listen to each others and understand the

difference between two culture.

In my estimation , I should have been done diffrently in the first place by traiing

employee and the new manage about the different in the management styles. Which is much

affected by cultural factor : such as  communication skill , assertiveness, future orientation ,

performance orientation and human orientation. That is also affected by attitude towards time ,

change and individualism. However in order to recognize that underlying culture, people need to

be trained and informed before hand . and particularly from the view of manager, he need to be

informed and know in advance about local cultural management and employee’s expectation as

well as common behaviors.
