FUNNEL, \ Gravity OISCHARGE TO CHEST OUTER VESSEL VIBRATION CRAIN LINE DAVPENEN Ler LIne a F dst DESCE The Innomatic is a reliable, uncomplicated, continuous on-line Freeness Analyzer with excellent repeatability. This instru- ment is connected to the pulp line by means of a bypass “shunt” line, permitting a continuous flow of pulp through the Analyzer. The bypass design allows for the shutting down of the Analyzer without interrupting pulp tlow through the main line. This feature facilitates periodic screen cleaning which can be accomplished within a few minutes. The flow then gravity discharges into a suitable chest. Pulp fills the open-ended inner tubs D to the same level that it fills tho outer vessel A. Because innor tube D extends above the pulp level, the sample is prevented {rom overflowing and thus isolated from the flow in the outer vessel. The constant column head forces pulp from the inner tube onto a stain- FUNNEL, | CLEAN-BLOWING CYCLE | Compressed air and water enters: nee tushesfitatetroughsereans eee eel sirand water shtsoffandtuibeD is replenished wih Fesh au. Measuring cycle then repeats COMPRESSED AIR less steel soreen §, forming a progressively thicker mat. Filtrate flow through the mat represents the drainage rate of the pulp. The filtrate level rising in tne measuring chamber M contacts lower electrode Ey to siart an electronic timer. When the filtrate contacts the upper electrode Ep, the measuring cycle ends and this drainage time is converted to an electronic signal. At ihe same moment, compressed air and water enter the top of the measuring chamber M, back-flushing the filtrate through the screen and expelling all the pulp from inner tube D. Following this 10-12 second clean-blowing cycle, the inner tube quickly refills with the new sample and the OVERFLOW GRAVITY DISCHARGE TO CHEST ORAIN LINE 6 INNER TUBE ELECTRODES — mi a MEASURING. CHAMBER OUTER VESSEL s DANPENER measuring cycle repeats. A drainage measurement is takon approximately every 1-3 minutes depend- ing upon pulp characteristics. At the time of instal- lation, electrode positions are adjusted to give proper measuring times for the freeness range being measured. The electronic unit supplies up to five 4-20 mA signals to monitoring and control devices, Temperature compensation and consis- tency compensation are standard. Drainage read- ings are held in memory for statistical analysis and graphical presentation, The Innomatic signal correlates to the Canadian Standard Freeness Test and other standard drainage tests.
