character modelling
University Project

As a student at Sydney University, I under-

took an assignment to design, model and
animate characters for a potential licenced
game.

In a team of 5, I collaberated to design and

develop the game. My role in this creation
process was to designa and model the base
characters for the engine and develop
animations sets for these characters.

With this project also came the challenge of

modelling the characters and enrivornments
to a certain perameter, specifically poly-
gons in order to reduce file size for game
engines.

Using the platform Maya, I modeled an

‘eggbot’, which I utilised as a base model,
to design and create different equipment
sets for 4 characers. Each of these models
have animation sets for attack and defence
actions and movement styles. This project
resulted in a presentation showcasing two of
these characters in battle.

Client Work

Featured here are 3D representations of CAD

plans for an apartment complex that were
submitted as part of a Development Appli-
cation to council.

The 3D models were generated from archi-

tectural CAD plans using 3d Studio Max.
I applied textures, detailing, landscaping
and lighting. Backgrounds and trees were
added using Photoshop.

3D Animation
University Assignment

The intention of this project was to demon-

strate animation skills. It is a short sequence
focusing on animation and movement of
characters within a scene. The animation
depicts the machines revolt against the user,
after he hits the screen in frustration. Each
individual monitor is a character as well as
the physical manikins themselves.
Music and sound effects compliment the
sequence. The use of depth of field, camera
work and lighting helped to create realistic
i m a g e r y .

I achieved a high distinction for this project.

Personal Arts

These abstracts were created as a means to

develop my skills in Photoshop. I explored
different methods using such tools as brushes,
filters, blending options and textures.
