 Application of Kevlar in Fuel Tanks
 Questioning Session
 Kevlar is the
registered
trademark for a
light, strong para-
aramid synthetic
fiber, related to
other aramids such
as Nomex and
Technora
 Kerosene fueled turbine engines have special
fuel cell requirements
 Plastic model fuel cells are not strong enough
to avoid bursting in case of a crash
 Race cars uses it to protect the drivers from
crash induced fuel explosions
 These Kevlar cells are molded in 2 pieces and
joined by the modeler using BVM's Aeropoxy
glue and fitted with special hardware
 Fuel cell of Yamaha R6(2006-
2007)
 Reduce the possibility of
impact abrasion related
failures of the stock tank
 It include 4 layers of Kevlar
at the most vulnerable spots
on the stock tank
 Besides looking good they
help transmit impact loads
over a larger area further
reducing the energy to be
absorbed by the stock tank
 Quality KEVLAR® tank made in Europe used
by major race teams . Reinforced with
aluminum for strength and Fully lined with
Kevlar to reduce impact abrasion.
