Children learn the life by modeling. Parents have been the models for their
children since their birth. When the children are young, they could not find
other models and they tried to follow the parents’ behaviors. Therefore,

1. Women have spare time to get their self-realization and life quality
improvement. As times go on, food can be easily cooked. People can get
more spare time. Especially in Korean cuisine, it is the painstaking job to
prepare for dinners. It takes three or four days to make Kimchi, that is most
famous food for Korean. Kimchi appears on the dining table of a Korean
family everyday. Women have enough time to participate in various types of
activities such as going to concert, watching movies, and joining in
volunteer work.
2. We can eat more delicious and newer food. When preparing food is
painstaking and difficult, complicated and new food was not tried, but
preparing becomes easy, so new food can be tried.

1. Knowledge from books
You can easily gain knowledge from diverse areas. If you have curiosity
about various kinds of fields, you would go to library and find diverse books
related to your curiosity. You can achieve various kinds of knowledge from
books by visiting library. If you try to achieve knowledge from experience,
you might not be able to achieve these various kinds of knowledge in your
life.
In addition, you can gain corroborated information from authority. Most
writers are usually people sufficiently qualified. Perhaps, they are regarded
as masters. You can trust the information from books.
2. Knowledge from experience
It can be the knowledge appropriate for each individual. Book has the
generous knowledge, but that from experience can be specific knowledge.
You may have experiences that you wanted to find the specific knowledge,
 but you just find inapplicable general knowledge from the books.
You can additionally gain the information that you cannot gain from books.
If you try to find knowledge about cooperation or friendship, you cannot
find from books. You can find real knowledge just from experience.

Compare the advantage and disadvantage of the large factory near your

One of the biggest advantages of a factory is the employment opportunity it

could bring. Factories need workers, and the wages that factories pay are generally
better than those that workers can earn in service jobs. Often, when one factory is
built, other factories are built nearby to supply those factories with parts or to use
the parts made by the factory in their own production. As the wage earners and
businesses pay taxes to the community government, the community can provide
facilities and service that make it a desirable place to live. This process can lead to
the creation of a large and prosperous community.

However, before deciding on a new factory, the community must also consider
the downside. Many people do not support community growth. They may wish to
keep the charm and serenity that comes with being a small community. Along with
jobs, factories also often create pollution, and this can harm the quality of life that a
community enjoys. Although people need work, a community’s quality of life may
be a more important factor to consider when deciding in a new factory or industry.

In short, the decision to support or oppose a new factory must be based on the
needs and wants of the community. If the community has a big unemployment
problem and the factory will produce minimal pollution, I would support the building
of the factory. If, on the other hand, the community does not have a big
unemployment problem, and the factory would seriously harm the quality of life in
the community. I would oppose it.

Topic 6
Change one important thing about your hometown.

Essay :
Imagine you are jogging along a small lake, and your family is on a picnic in a quiet
park. Some birds are singing on big trees and young children play with a ball on the
grass. Even though you just imagine this, you could feel good and peaceful. If I
could change my hometown, I would make a beautiful park near the neighborhood
for a good relationship and better health of neighbors and me.

First, I would build a good park near my hometown because it can help people
to get along together. If a park is open near my home, many families in the town
can go for a picnic. It can give us a good chance to communicate with each member
of family. Thus, we can understand each other and finally we have good
relationships in family. It will also enable us to get a good relation with neighbors.
We can meet our neighbors in the park by chance. At first, we may just say hello,
but as time goes on, we could talk with our neighbors. We will make friends with our
neighbors.

Second, if a park is built in the neighborhood, members of our local

community including my family will become healthy. If there is a park near
hometown, the residents will like to go to the park, and want to exercise. Children
who live in the area would play in the park. It may discourage them from
concentrating on watching TV and playing computer games, which might make
them unhealthy. They would like to play outside and be familiar with animals such
as bugs, birds, and rabbits. As a result, they would become healthy both physically
and psychologically.

In conclusion, if I select the place where I live, I should consider the nearness to
the nature the most important thing because it is related with the health of people
of hometown, and can let people more friendly. It is the reasons, if I could change
my hometown, I am willing to built a park near my hometown

How do movies or television influence people’s behavior?
1. Many violent scenes encourage people to be more violent. There are a lot of
movies including many violent scenes. People watch violence from the
movies without screening. Even young children are exposed to violence from
the movies. One psychological experiment showed that children who
watched the violent acts were likely to act violently. A lot of exposures to
violence lead the children to be insensitive to violence. They find out that
violence are accepted and can use violence to achieve their goal.
2. It provides people with indirect experience so leads to enlarge individual
thinking. Movies show us the story of special person who does not live
typical life. Some times movies show us person in Vietnam War. Some times
we can watch the life of gay who is dying of AIDS. From the movies, we can
get indirect experience that we can hardly experience.

Agree or disagree television has destroyed communication among friends and
family?

1. It deprives family of their time to talk each other. Today, we watch TV too
 much time, so we cannot have spare time to talk our family. Each of family
has TV program to watch. If one of the family watch TV just for 2 hours one
day, 4 members of family watch TV 8 hours. There is no time except the
evening to talk to each other. However, in that evening they spend their
precious time on watching TV.
2. Even though child has some problem to talk to parents, parents are likely to
ignore child’s needs because of watching TV. TV attracts our attention from
family member to itself. We will not give our attention to other family
members. In addition, it deprives shared topics to concentrate on their own
favorite program. It becomes more difficult to have conversation with other
family members because we do not have shared topics. We just say to
others what we need.
3. Everyone of family wants to watch the TV program that he or she likes to
watch. Their interest is confined to entertainer or hot issue on TV.

those who failed without luck do not have opportunities to learn how to
succeed. Experience of success helps people to succeed again. For example,
one basketball team coach tried to give the players with the feeling of
success. Whether victory results from luck or not, after succeeding, the

my case, I always think over which point should I put emphasis on in the interview?
Sometimes I liked to look like an experienced man. Sometimes I stressed my
education. If I choose a person for a teaching job, I will consider the person’s work
experience most important because his experience can help students to understand
job fields and solve problem in the field easily.
First of all, an experienced person can teach students to understand the job.
The field of job is different from a classroom. There is a lot of knowledge which
teacher can’t teach by books. If someone goes to a work place, he has to know who
is his boss and how he should do to have a good relationship with his boss and co-
workers. Besides, if he is an engineer, machinery that he will work with may be
different from that of classroom. He doesn’t know about this machinery and will be
embarrassed with this problem. Thus, teacher should teach students to understand
these difficulties in the field and prepare for this problem. Therefore, an experienced
person is needed.
At the same time, the work experience of person will help students to solve
a lot of problems that happen in the field. The person can know which problem often
happens in the field. Thus he can explain this problem and suggest the answer that
solves the problem. He also can know how to prevent from happening the problem.
If a student goes to the field without knowledge of the field, he has to worry about
what will happen next, and he will suffer from even the easiest problem because he
don’t know how to apply the knowledge to the problem. On the other hand, a
student who has the field knowledge might go easy because he knows what will be
usually happen next, how to apply the knowledge to this problem and how to solve
it.
 So far, I describe the two reasons why I select an experienced person as a
teacher to teach a job. I believe a good teacher should have various kinds of
experiences. If a teacher doesn’t have a lot of experience, but has the knowledge of
books, he can make a student just like him. The student can’t understand what
knowledge really is because knowledge came from experiences.

There are a lot of lay-offs in Korea. The lay-offs of company have some advantages
for company’s restoring. However, the layoffs are big loss. Thus, I disagree laying
off, and I agree businesses should hire employees for their entire lives for these
reasons; Hiring for entire lives let employee have loyalty to company and good
teamwork.

Initially, unless businesses hire employees for their entire lives, employees are not
willing to be loyal to the businesses. If an employee knows he may be discharged,
he doesn’t try to work hardly, and he will try to find a new job. He cannot
concentrate on his work and he will worry about future. If he finds a new job, he will
not work hard. Besides, He is not likely to give his know-how about his work to
others. If employee knows he will not be discharged, he will let other employees to
know his knowledge about work and he will work hard.

Next, hiring for entire lives encourages employees to get a good teamwork. If
someone knows he was hired for his entire lives, he feels stable and he gets a good
relationship with his boss. He will be serene since he does not have to worry about
his future. He can get an interest in other employees. If he is stressed by instability
of his work, he can just concentrate on his own problem, and he cannot look after
others’ difficulties. Thus, each employee can get along with another. In case of team
project, a lot of problems will occur because of member’s selfishness.

I believe our Korean companies are losing their assets by layoff. A layoff will
discourage employees from devoting to their company and getting a good
teamwork. As a result, I agree to hire employees for entire lives.

understand the present and forecast the future. Therefore, we should learn about

read newspaper, sleep, or see landscape because you have not to drive. However,

education. Although my undergraduate major was in geology, I must oppose

These subjects are just as important as math and science, for several reasons.

traditional wedding ceremony, bride went along with ox because ox meant a big
present. The bride’s parents had to go the bride with various kinds of gifts. It was
the manner of marriage in the past in Korea. As a gift, ox was very big gift which
only the rich could give. Like this, Ox was a big asset for our ancestor.

In conclusion, Korean people regarded ox as a good animal. Koreans

sometimes call as an ox a person who works very hard and have loyalty to boss. It is
because it gave us big helps for the lives of Korean. It gave us everything for us
such as its milk and meat. We used it for cultivation. In this way, ox was the most
important animal in Korea; we could use it as labor, and by selling it, we could get
