Analyze the Learner State Objectives

Who are the Learners? What are their skill levels? What are their learning styles?

In this lesson the learners are first grade students. Students have a basic understanding of comprehension skills and storytelling. The learning styles of the students are not addressed in this lesson.

What do you want the learners to gain knowledge of? What are the specific learner outcomes?

During this lesson students will develop their comprehension skills through sequencing of story events and the identification of the plot of the story. The specific learner outcomes are as followed: 1.Sequence story events of the book If You Give a Pig a Pancake. 2. Individually demonstrate comprehension by retelling If You Give a Pig a Pancake story through an individually created book. 3. Identify a problem and resolution contained within the events of the story If You Give a Pig a Pancake

Selection of Methods, Media, and Materials

What methods of instruction will you use? Which media are appropriate? Which materials will you need?

Read out loud to students (share a story), pose questions that will get students thinking, and show examples. Overheard projection If You Give A Pig a Pancake by Harper Collins, overhead projector, pink paper, blue paper, white paper, scissors, stapler, crayons, and makers

Utilize Methods, Media, and Materials

How will you use the methods and media? How will you use the materials? What is your instructional strategy?

Students will sit on the floor as a group and begin thinking about what order means. They will be given examples of the beginning, middle, and end. Students will be posed with the idea as to what would happen if the certain orders get mixed up. The overhead projector will be used to help students visualize the sequence of the story. The scissors, stapler, paper, crayons and markers will be used to create a book that will show the sequence of the story. The instructional strategy is cooperative teaching, discussion, problem based instruction. Students will be required to participate in a discussion about what order is and about the sequence of the story. They will follow instructions and work towards determining which paper represents each part of the story. Students will create a book. Then students will use their individual created books to help them retail the story. Participatory learning

Did the lesson meet the objectives? How will you evaluate content and technologies used? How will you revise and improve.

This lesson did meet the objectives. Students sequences story events of the story, demonstrate comprehension by retelling the story, and identifying the problem and resolution. Evaluation will be done based on students success of the tasks. This lesson will be revised and improved if students appear not to be grasping the objectives of the lesson.
