1. INTRODUCTION / GII THIU:


The New Nguyen Van Troi Tran Thi Ly bridge crosses the Han river to replace the existing Nguyen Van Troi and Tran Thi Ly bridges. The New Nguyen Van Troi - Tran Thi Ly bridge has 6 lanes of traffic, responding to transportation requirements of Da Nang City, especially Son Tra and Ngu Hahn Son districts. It is also a link on the new main street highway from East to West of Da Nang City joining the Da Nang Airport to the main highways. Ltd. have the sub-contract for the construction of the bridge pylon, supply and installation of stay cables, supply and installation of bearings S5 and the supply and installation of expansion joint to main bridge superstructure (SC No. 1326-TCT-KHTT). Ltd. are supplying the climb form system for the pylon construction. The selfclimbing form work is utilised for the construction of vertical or inclined concrete walls. The system is able to support the pressure of fresh concrete up to the hardening phase and climb to the next phase without the help of auxiliary equipment like a crane. 2. SCOPE / PHM VI CNG VIC:


The purpose of this document is to provide a detailed method for the assembly of the Waiko climb form system which is used for casting the main pylon of the cable stay bridge. This method statement will cover preparation and pre-assembly works, the installation of the climb form system to cast the first phase concrete lift, removal and repositioning of the climb form system to cast the second phase concrete lift and the full assembly of the climb form ready for the casting of the subsequent phases of concrete lifts of the pylon. The method statement takes into account safety and environmental concerns inherent with these operations. 4. SEQUENCE OF WORKS / TRNH T THI CNG: 4.1 General / Tng quan:


This Method Statement must be read in conjunction with the VSLs Use and Maintenance Manual and drawings which gives a more detailed description regarding the climb form assembly and installation method. The climb form assembly and installation operations must be carried out by trained and qualified personnel with adequate trained and qualified supervision. All bolts are to be torque in accordance with the tables in Appendix A, using 0.15 friction coefficient and grade 8.8 for bolts. Dismantle the climb form system from the phase 1 lift. Tho d vn khun cho phn on 1. 1.1.2 Climb Form System Components / Cc cu kin ca h vn khun leo.


The climb form system consists of the following major components: H vn khun leo gm nhng cu kin chnh sau:

Form work / Vn khun:


The form work is composed of steel panels connected by bolting and horizontal wailers. Vertical wailers are provided for connection to the main climb form system. The maximum fresh concrete height is 4.0m and the maximum concrete pressure is 40kN/m2. Thn vn khun bao gm nhng tm pan thp ghp li vi nhau bng bu long v nhng thanh ging ngang. The alignment props ensure the correct inclination of the wall during the concrete pouring operation, and allow a fine adjustment before pouring. The alignment props transmit the horizontal forces, due to the wall inclination and wind forces, into the climbing brackets. Self climbing units / H t leo


The self climbing units consist in one main platform at level + 0m and one under service platform at level 4m. Their function is to support the form work panels and climb the whole equipment on its own by operation of the hydraulic equipment. The under platform at level - 4 also allows access to the stripped concrete wall for possible make up and recovery of the anchor blocks from the previous phase. Although the service loads on platforms are quite high, the loads on the platforms from the operating personnel will be quite low. From the above table it can be seen that the maximum allowable materials & equipment loading on platform, based on the anticipated number of operators, is very high, it is anticipated that the loadings will be much less than that allowed, particularly on the level +0 platform. Material & equipment loads are to be distributed throughout the platforms evenly and placed on distribution beams or wooden blocks to spread the load. During the casting of the pier table S5 certain cast in items have to be installed to accommodate the phase 1 climb form set up. The formwork panels are made up of a number of individual panels that are bolted together to make the final form. Horizontal whalers are bolted onto the back of the formwork panels at two locations. Vertical whalers are bolted to the horizontal whalers to make the complete panel. The largest panel, a lateral side panel at the phase 1 level, consists of 8 individual panels (EP1L/R, EP2L/R, EP3L/R, EP4L/R, EP5L/R, EP5L/R, EP6L/R and EP7L/R) and measures around 10.0m x 4.0m. After the phase 1 assembly, the formwork panels are completely stripped and will be checked for alignment and steps in the panel face. If misalignment or steps are found then the form panels should be disassembled and reassembled with whalers as below. Lift the two horizontal whalers onto the back of the form panels and install the M16 bolts between the back of the form panels and the horizontal whalers. Starting at one end of the form, tighten the bolts between the horizontal whalers and the form panels and the bolts between each of the form panels. To correct this, release the bolts of between the back of the forms and the horizontal whalers and insert shim plates where necessary (delivered from factory), in order to achieve the correct alignment. An assembly platform, having dimensions of 18.0m x 6.0m should be prepared for the pre-assembly of the self climbing units and platforms. The assembly platform should have timber planks at the climbing unit locations so that the climbing units can be secured to the timber face with climbing cones. The units are assembled with the working platforms vertical. Where possible, working platforms should be assembled, on the assembly platform, with handrails, etc. and stored for lifting in position during the climb form installation stage. 4.4 Assembly of the Climb Form System for Phase 1 Concrete Lift / T hp h thng vn khun leo cho b tng giai on 1:
The 500mm deep concrete kicker is cast using conventional plywood faced form work. Mt chn thp c chiu cao 500m c b-tng, s dng vn khun g thng thng. Due to the modified general construction sequence, the assembly of the climb form system for phase 1 is done without the use of the tower crane. A floating barge with 50t crawler crane is used to lift the climb form components into position. The brackets are fitted by first installing the anchor cone, then installing the anchor block and lastly installing the nut. The anchor blocks are checked for alignment and the nuts tightened with the special tightening tool. The 50 x 360 securing pin should be fitted in place on each block. 4.8 Installation of the Level 4m Working Platform / Lp t sn thao tc cao -4m:
