9 Update Installation Instructions For Xerox Service Partners using Non-Xerox owned PC

Who should install this software? Xerox Service Partners using Non-Xerox owned PCs

IMPORTANT! Be sure your PWS is plugged into AC power. Do not perform this upgrade using battery power. You must be present during this install. Your PWS will restart several times and you will need to login to Windows XP for the install to continue. If the PC does not reboot after an installation and seems to have locked up, and you have not seen a message stating that the Master Installer has finished, please manually reboot the PC and Master Installer, if not finished, will continue to run until it is completed. DO NOT run this installer while connected to the Internet, it will cause the install to take longer. The GSN PWS Release 9.9 DVD will install the following major components: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Internet Explorer 8.0 and security patches GSN Release 9.9 Web Components 2 GSN PWS Release 9.9 Repair Utility .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 SP1 Windows Media Player 10 Adobe Reader 9.3

These are the steps to follow when upgrading a PWS with Release 9.7 or 9.8 to 9.9.

1. Start your PWS and login to Windows XP. 2. Do not login to GSNLock. 3. Place the GSN PWS Release 9.9 Xerox Service Partners DVD (P/N 701P50578) in your CD/DVD drive.

4. Select Start > Run from your desktop. 5. When the Run window opens, click Browse. 6. Navigate to your CD/DVD drive. (The label should display Rel 9.9 NonXerox) 7. Highlight setup.exe and click Open. 8. Click OK. The Update install will begin. 9. Select your User Type and click OK. 1) Agent\Dealer with Non-Xerox provided PC IMPORTANT! You must select the correct User Type. Your User Type determines which updates are downloaded to your PWS over the BUS.

10. Make sure that [-c-] is highlighted as the target drive. 11. Click OK. 12. You will see the message Searching for Installed Applications. Please wait

13. Choose Typical Install as your install type. The Master Installer will launch and the GSN PWS Release 9.9 Update install will begin. The message informing you about the length of time required for SP3 will display. Read it carefully and continue on.

14. A message explaining some known installer issues will appear. Please read this carefully and make sure you understand it before clicking OK to continue. 15. The message Extracting Files will be displayed followed by the message Install running, please waitInstalling Windows XP Service Pack 3 This may take a while. 16. If a Dial-up Connection window opens at any time during the installer, click Cancel so that the install can continue.

17. Your PC should reboot after installing XP SP3. If it fails to do so, or youre not sure, restart your computer and the installer should continue on its own. 18. The .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 SP1 install will begin. 19. Adobe Reader 9.3 is installed. 20. If your PWS is not currently running Web Components 2, it will be installed now. 21. Internet Explorer 8.0 is installed. This may take several minutes. 22. Your PWS will reboot if necessary. Log back in to continue the installer. 23. The Restore Proxy Settings dialog box is displayed. Click Continue Now when it becomes active. 24. Internet Explorer 8.0 patches are installed. 25. GSNLock Client is installed. 26. Release 9.9 Update_09 is installed. 27. Your PWS will reboot if necessary. Log back in to continue the installer. 28. GSN Release 9.9 Repair ver:1.0 is installed. 29. The message Master Install complete is displayed.

30. Click OK. NOTE: If you do not see this window then Master Installer did not finish properly. Please re-start your PC and Master Installer should continue where it left off. 31. The computer will restart. Log back into Windows XP. 32. Your upgrade to GSN PWS Release 9.9 is complete. Please ride the BUS for any newer updates.
