In todays class we will learn how to apply different effects to images and review our previous exercise. For this exercise we will create a new document as we always do... Exercise 1. Ctrl + N or File>New (to create a new document)

2. Create a frame holder using the Rectangle Frame Tool that cover the entire page

3. Place image called flamingo

4. Once image is placed, right click select Fitting>Fill Frame Proportionally 5. Go to Window>Layers, double-click on Layer 1, rename it background, and click OK.

6. Lock theBackground layer, by clicking inside of the box

7. Create a new layer and rename it Text

8. Create a Text frame using the T Tool then drag it whatever you like.

9. Select your text frame with your selection tool 10. Fill text frame with white

11. Select text frame, right click>Text Frame Option 12. Set inset to 0.25 all around

13. Place Text called flamingo diet in text box

14. Select your text box, go to Effects on your palettes menu on the right hand side of your screen. If you can not find it go to Window>Effects. Once you find the Effects Tab> Select Fill then go to Opacity and lower it to 50%

Another effect that you can apply to the text frame is the feather effect. To apply that effect go to the fly out menu Select Effect>Basic Feather

16. Select the Rectangular Frame tool to create another frame on top of your document

17. We are going to select another image called island2 to place in our new frame

18. Right click> Fitting> Fit Content to Frame 19. Select the Effects Tab , go to the fly out menu and select Gradient Feather. Select the direction of the gradient and type > Ok.
