It was the only book in the historical library that referenced Tom Blake. It was four pages long and spoke about Toms headstone which revealed so little about a man who did so much. They have been surfing since the 60s and are the organizers of the Dairy Land Surf Classic. Like Tom Blake, their water safety campaigns and rescues have a saved many lives. This was the only film interview that I could find about Tom Blake. Blake talks about how he designed the fin by getting his ideas from a boat. The film clip has his birthdate listed at 1912, but it should have been 1902. 6

This classic film was about an ultimate surf adventure documentary where two surfers travel the globe looking for the perfect wave. I watched this movie several times while working on this project. The Titanic sunk when Tom Blake was ten years old. He probably had to listen to people talk about the tragedy for years. I wouldnt be surprised if it influenced his concerns about water safety. I visited the museum to see the Innovations Exhibit featuring a Tom Blake paddleboard. It was great to see some surfing information in Wisconsin. I took pictures for my website, and saw the quote When You Think of Surfing, Do You Think of Wisconsin? I liked it because its an unexpected question. The airplane and other forms of transportation helped Blake to become a Snow-birder and head to the sunny areas during the winter. Transportation offered many different new ways to live. .
