In 1920 Yaish Ben David began to work for Shalom Hazan. In

time the two became partners.
When Sultana, Shalom Hazan's first
child, was about 12 years, her mom,
Mima Hazan, would send her to
bring lunch to her father and his
partner Yaish. Every day, for the
next year or so, Sultana would show
up with lunch.
(In 1929 the last name of Yaish was
changed from Ben David to Mor
Yosef. The reason behind this
change remained a mystery to this
day.)
Captivated by the beauty of Sultana,
Yaish falls in love with her. The Year
was 1929 and Sultana was only 13.
The 28 year old Yaish approaches his partner, Shalom, and asks
his permission to marry Sultana. Because of her young age,
Shalom was at first reluctant to give his consent. Finally, after
displaying such a persistence and, proving himself to be worthy of
marrying his oldest daughter, Sultana, the consent was given.
In 1930 Yaish Mor Yosef and Sultana Hazan tie the knot. He was
28. She was 14. A year later their first daughter, Shoshana, is
born. Later, While in Casablanca, six more children are added to
the family: Ruth, Tamar, Esther, Avraham, Rivka and Dvorah.
In 1949 the family immigrates to Israel where 5 more children are
born: Shlomo, David, Shulamit, Moshe and Yosef.
