Plan Of Action:

1 The first plan of action in accordance with NETS standards is to develop goal statements which identifies all that it entails be successful as an Instructional Technologist and how it relates to coordinating the activities of a school system or individual or private schools IT infrastucture setup as well as provide post conversion training. 2 Tap into past mentors and senior educators for feedback as well as possible consulting opportunities. This would ensure I have the proper guidance as I work with school administration and the technology community. At this point, I would also start to line up contractors if there is to be major installations such as installing workstations, surround sound systems, mobile device mounting etc. Electricians should also be asked to bid, should any major electrical rewiring be needed. 3 This step in the process would be the time to collect data on the uses and trends on the latest technology in the K-12 and higher education school system and conduct a case analysis on what inventory is needed for which projects, staff members and the like. This would help in facilitating the ordering process.

3 Prepare a budget for supplies, training, travel, hardware, software. Negotiate contracts with any vendors and/or suppliers. Order any supplies and software If this is an upgrade of infrastructure, then an upgrade would be performed. Providing estimates to the business manager for future payment.

4 Upon delivery, the installation of all hardware, software, firewall, security features such as locking systems, mounting devices, controlled access to classrooms, laboratories etc. Working to ensure there are areas for access by faculty, staff or students who has a special need, this would include desks and chairs of a certain design. This could also include items such as ergonomic keyboards for teachers and students who various input devices often.

5 Configuration of all hardware and software to school administration specifications. Then go live. All users would be assigned login credentials in accordance with the schools security policy. Training is provided this point in sessions, depending upon how large the organization is.

6 Follow up support including vendor relations as well as classroom support for all hardware, software and Learning Management Systems. Training manuals as well as usage policy handbooks would be finalized at this point and delivered to all school users as well as parents.
