JAYBEAM ANTENNAS V.E.T. Manual tuning of V.E.T.

For all 3 models Variable Electrical Tilt (V.E.T.) from 0 to 10 degrees, by step of 1 degree For dual band antennas (5xxx110), 900 E.T. and 1800 E.T. are independently tunable Default value of V.E.T. = 10 degrees (ruler completely inside the body of antenna)

IMPACT: If V.E.T. is not tuned according to RNP recommendations: Shrinkage of coverage A field is required for rectification/ outage during time of intervention/ new drive test

Procedure for manual tuning of V.E.T. STEP 1

Turn the transparent tubes which protect the tilt indicators counter-clockwise to disengage them from the antenna. These tubes are tethered to the antenna and will not fall.

Note: The photos show a diplexed triband antenna (5880110) but the process described here applies to all our antennas Note: Procedure reproduced with authorisation of Jaybeam representative

Procedure for manual tuning of V.E.T. STEP 2

The tilt indicator has color coded spaces. When the limit between two colors is aligned with the bottom plate, the electrical tilt is set to the value indicated just below the plate. On picture, the reading on the indicator shows that the electrical tilt angle is set to 8 degree. Set the electrical tilt according to the operator guidelines for this installation. The electrical tilt on the antenna is changed by turning the adjustment knob. The knob to be used is the one with the same color as the connectors of the concerned frequency band. The relationship between colors and the frequency bands of the antenna is described on a label fixed on the antenna. Turn clockwise to increase the tilt on the antenna. Note that the antenna is set to its maximum downtilt when the indicator is fully inside the antenna. When a new tilt value has been set, record this new value into the site documents, together with the antenna serial number, its frequency band and the corresponding sector.

Reinstall the transparent tubes which protect the tilt indicators. To do so, insert each tube into the two slots and once totally inserted, turn clockwise to secure.

Issue detected
V.E.T. KNOB NOT TURNING / BROKEN TUBE If the protective transparent tube is broken while in locked position, the V.E.T. cannot be tuned: knob is locked by the remaining metallic part. The metallic key of the protection tube needs to be removed from the body of the antenna to tune the V.E.T. . A screw-driver must be used carefully to push anticlockwise the remaining metallic part (Warning : metallic part might fall if operation done on the pylona !)
