Media has been a part of our lives for such a long time, thus it is no doubt tha t media is indeed

an important industry in our society. It greatly contributes a nd affects the different aspects that make a society. On its basic sense, the ro le of media is to inform and expose to the people different and current issues i n a certain community. Yet, it is not excused in the controversies revolving the society. This requirement is a compilation of articles dealing with the different societ al issues that are being confronted by the media industry in the present time, s uch as sex and violence presented in different forms of media, the ethics and so cial responsibility of media, and the credibility of media as bringer of truth. On the first issue, sex and violence, we see through the different articles atta ched the effect of media on its audience and viewers. One article says that chil dren might imitate what they see on shows on the television and on films. Sex an d violence is also included here. That is why authorities are now becoming stric t in filtering the amount of violence and sex scenes in some tv shows. Here, we see positive effect as well as the negative effects of media to the people. Posi tive for it can bring information to its viewers while negative because it can a lso expose the viewers violent acts like sex and brutality. The second issue delves on the ethics of the media and also their social respons ibilities. They are thrown with issues whether they maintain their responsibilit ies or not. Of course, media industry has their own set of values and ethics. As one of the articles here says, the all mediamen should be aware of the media et hics and should maintain social responsibilities like exposing the truth to thei r readers and audience. Another big question in the industry of media is the question of who really owns media. Some opinions say that media is owned by private bodies and that they th e bosses should be the one controlling the company. On the other hand, some says that media should be the voice of the people that is why they should favor the masses. Of all the issues, I find this one having the greatest magnitude. Credibility as we all now is very important in the media industry. This is because the more cr edible they are, the more readers or viewers they will get. But then, issues of biases and fallacies are actually the usual issue in media companies nowadays. A rticles that I ve found here say that media, at all times, be credible and have inte grity. The last issue talks about the laws that govern the media industry. It is import ant for the media men and media companies to always abide the rules surrounding them.
