Digital Devices Reflection


1. Examine and explore the tablet device further. Follow along with Miss Davis as she explains some of the features of the tablet and how to navigate the device. After the presentation, answer the following questions. You may need to do some research on the Internet to complete this reflection. a. Name and describe three applications on the tablet that could be useful to you as a student. Explain the rationale behind your choices. Answers vary; students can use applications pre-programmed on device (calculator, calendar, dictionary, etc.) or research applications from the App store online. 2. Outputs Data Imagine a world without technological devices, including your cell phone, computers, televisions, tablet devices or the Internet. How would your daily interaction with others change as a result? Answers vary; some examples include more face-to-face interaction; decreased use of Internet and text-messaging slang; longer wait time on information retrieval (no Internet or news broadcasts to provide you with instant answers); etc. 4. Which, if any, of the devices you explored today could be considered a personal computer? Explain. All of the devices explored could be considered a personal computer because they perform the four processes required to classify a device as a personal computer; portability; main use is for individual use. 5. You have been given unlimited funds and resources to develop the ideal technological device for students to further their academic careers. Create a new and unusual use for one of the devices you have explored today, such as the iPad, the Internet, or cameras, in order to increase student productivity. What new applications would you create, or what current applications would you alter? Why? How would this device help students academically? Answers will vary.
