The VLE Interface

The Frog Interface

Welcome to Frog! Your Frog VLE has been built with the specific needs of todays schools in mind. A wide array of modern technology makes your Frog VLE flexible and durable enough to meet the exacting standards of todays educational requirements.

The user interface provides easy access to the many features and functions of your Frog VLE. The Interface is role sensitive providing different options whether being viewed by a teacher, student, administrator or any other user of the VLE. This guide is based upon a teacher login and so may include tools and features not available to other users. This section will give an overview of each interface element, with more detail on the exact functionality being provided in specific relevant sections.

The Frog Bar

The Frog Bar is a fixed area at the top of the VLE that gives access to system options, your home dashboard and resources. This cannot be removed. Working from left to right, the Frog Bar consists of the following elements:

The Frog Menu

The Frog menu provides a quick way to access the System Options area of the VLE. By default it contains: Help General VLE help. Here you can find answers to commonly asked questions. Preferences Here you can change the basic settings of the VLE. The options are: o Language This allows you to change the VLE into either English or Malay language. o Set Background - Choose from a predefined list of images as your VLE background. Log Out Logs the user out of the VLE after use.

Help
This is context sensitive and will display help on the area of the VLE the user is currently viewing. Here you can instigate a search of the running applications help documentation, should the general help not provide an answer. Appropriate links to the Community Site are displayed alongside the results of your search.

Dashboard Switch

Clicking on the arrows allows you to scroll between your personal Dashboard and the School Dashboard.

Global Search box

Here you can search for resources on your VLE that you have permission to access. If a particular Application is running, then the search will be carried out against the running Application first, then across the whole of the VLE. The search results will for the resource name and then display the first 15 hits returned. If more matches are found then a show all button will display the results in the Resource Manager. Note: All searches require a minimum of 3 characters to be entered before searching will start.

Home (Your Dashboard)

Returns you to your home dashboard. As this is always displayed, you can always quickly return to your Dashboard from wherever in the VLE you are.

Quick Launch
The Quick Launch icon displays the VLE main menu. From here you can navigate through the VLE.

Note: Applications in the main menu may differ from that shown due to the access rights of the user.

Resource Manager
The Resource Manager allows you to view/edit any resources that you have permission to access or have created. These resources can be files, Sites or Applications.

Application Tray
This allows you to quickly switch between the last 9 Frog Applications or sites that have been used or viewed. On clicking the Application Tray Button, any currently running Application or Site will be displayed in the tray. Clicking on the icon of a Site or Application will bring it into focus. Clicking on the [x] of a Site or Application will close it.

Notifications
The notification icon provides a visual indicator of when new messages appear in your events feed. The icon shows the number of unread notifications currently unread. Notifications will display alerts from Sites, Calendars and Assignments.

Clicking on the individual messages in the events feed will take the user to the relevant application or Site that generated the message. Clicking on a message will clear its unread status. Notifications that are sent from the same source, i.e. from the same teacher or Site, will be grouped together in the notification feed. Note: Notifications can be displayed on your Dashboard using the Notifications Widget (shown above).

Content Tray
The content tray is a fixed area that appears whenever page editing is required. It is used to carry out operations such as adding widgets to a page and/or setting the properties and/or options on widgets. Note: Widgets in the content tray may differ from that shown due to the access rights of the user.
