Classroom Policies

Situation

Procedures
Teacher Actions Prepares Board, Homework Collection and Agenda Signature Checking Student Actions Students file into the classroom in SAS positions after unpacking belongings necessary for class: o -Binder o -Pencils o -agenda o -book Students shake hands with Mr. Mag and enter room silently. Students remove homework and Agenda before working on warm-up activity in Warm-up Bin

Before the Morning Bell and Entering class

Greets Students and introduces warm-up activity

Switching Classes

Closes Lesson and instructs all students of homework expectations Instructs and waits for students to be in SAS Positions before releasing

Students pack and sit in SAS Positions (Strong, Attentive, Silent) Students exit classroom, return to book sacks silently to recollect belongings, line up silently for next class Students pause work and enter SAS positions Chairman silently picks up ball Students line up in number order and any talkers move to the back of the line Fully SAS in lunch line

Lunch

Instructs students to come to a pause and enter SAS positions Instructs Chairman of the Ball to carry Ball to recess Instructs students, when fully SAS, to line up outside in number order Reminds students that forgetting or neglecting to SAS in line results in recess penalties Instructs students at table that last 5 minutes of lunch may be used for social time if SAS is correct before this time Instructs Chairman of the Ball, Table Cleaner and Line Leader to clean their eating areas and head the front of the lines Instructs students to dispose of trash and sit in SAS position before dismissing Instructs students to walk in SAS to recess and reminds them that each SAS infraction results in a one minute recess penalty

Recess

Chairman, Table Cleaner and Line Leader begin to clean and exit Students dispose of trash after lining up in SAS Students walk in SAS to recess

After Recess

Instructs Students to line up in SAS, reminding them of their SAS expectations Reminds students who are doing homework to pause and join class Reminds students to gather any items necessary from backpacks before lining up in SAS position, numerically ordered Rewards students silently with classroom currency for positive behavior, including but not limited to: -SAS behavior in class -Investment in Class -Investment in Current Events -Extra Success Work (Current Events Research) - One week of homework completion -One week free of conduct infraction -Each Substandard Mastered Continues facilitating student actions and does not waste lesson time

Students return to line in SAS, with Line Leader in front and Chairman in Back of Line

Return to Class

Students gather belongings and stand in SAS, numerically ordered

In Class

Students work in pairs, with groups or alone, according to instruction Students participate in classroom discussions Students respect other students opinions but offer their own with a gesture of a raised hand
