Eikev 2012
This weeks portion, Eikev meaning on the heel of or because covers Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25. It is a continuation of the speech of Mosheh to the children of Israel. Though it may seem easy to disregard this as something thats not pertinent to us today, we must not miss the significant parallels here! He is speaking to a group of individuals that have been charged with entering the Promised Land, a group that has endured the wilderness and now will continue building the kingdom! We as well have been given that same charge, Ezekiel 34:13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. Before we get started, remember that this is in the book of Deuteronomy or Devarim words; from #1697 dabar speech, word, speaking, or thing = Door #1249) = )bar pure, clean, radiant Gematria = 256, same as #5135 nuwr fire The words of Torah are a door leading us to the fire that makes us pure, clean, and radiant! Our words/speech in turn are meant to be pure as well. Eikev is the 3rd portion of Devarim 3 = lifted up, to elevate Could it be that the focus here is on the words that we hear and on those that we release/lift up/elevate? Lets continue to look! Deuteronomy 7:12 If: Strongs #6118 eqeb consequence, because, the end or latter part of anything; from #6117 aqab to supplant, circumvent, take by the heel, follow at the heel, overreach, to be behind; also related to #6119 aqeb heel, rear, footprint, hinder part, footstep *Notice the connection within the Hebrew language to the feet/heel! It is interesting to note that with the Temple/Tabernacle being built in the form of a man laid out on the earth, that the Brazen Altar represents the feet/footstool of the Temple man! *Leviticus 6:13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out. In other words, theres something about keeping these judgments referenced in this verse and what happens at the altar! Exodus 20:26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar that thy nakedness be not discovered

thereon. Whose nakedness? This command is given to the Levites, Levi My Heart, a shadow picture of those who compose the Bride who serve and are joined to the Groom/Messiah/Temple Man! The one who is found at the altar/feet is the bride who is in need of redemption! The Levites bringing the sacrifices in the Temple, Ruth at the feet of Boaz, and the adulterous woman at the feet of Yahshua all a picture of the same thing. Theyre coming to be made pure and clean! Gematria of Eikev = 172 the same value as #1234 baqa to split, cleave, break open, divide; its the root of bekah meaning shekel a shekel was the offering brought when numbered as an atonement for your souls, in other words a covering! *Within the Hebrew language, Yahweh is revealing to us that as we walk in His judgments, its as if we have just come to the altar, to the feet, and as we present ourselves as a shekel we become joined to the other shekel from which we were broken off the Messiah! The 2 become 1 again and our nakedness is not exposed in our walk! Atonement: Strongs #3722 kaphar to cover, to purge, to make atonement, to cover over, to make reconciliation the need for a covering/reconciliation points towards something that has caused a disagreement, hence the reason for the need to reconcile! Keep: Strongs #8104 shamar to keep, guard, observe, give heed; = fire, something that purges & = mar, rebellion and bitterness; keeping the judgments requires us to purge rebellion and bitterness from the camp and from our lives (the things that caused us to fall into disagreement not only with Yahweh but also with each other)! In other words, theres no way we can claim to be commandment keepers if were walking in rebellion and bitterness among the camp. 1st reference of shamar is Genesis 2:15 And Yahweh took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep/shamar it. *This is the 46th verse of the Torah, and it just so happens this is the 46th portion of the year! 46 = number of chromosomes that organizes our DNA. Etymologically the word chromosomes comes from the Greek word khromo, which is from the Hebrew word qaram covering, to spread over, to spread or lay something over *Its reminding us that in the Garden of Eden, another seed/word was hearkened unto and we became compromised, our DNA changed. Every time we participate in spreading another seed/word of rebellion we as well are once again uncovering the house and changing the DNA! 46 = Levi

an earmark of those who are His heart are those who have 2

been purged and covered! 46 is also the value of Elijah my God is Yahweh; Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Yahweh: Could it be that part of the anointing of Elijah and what is promised to proceed the return of the Messiah has to do with the house being purged of rebellion and bitterness and learning to once again be reconciled? I believe so! 1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of Yahweh: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of Yahweh? This also causes us to remember what happened to Adam and Eve when their DNA was changed, when they did not shamar deal with the rebellion in the Garden/camp. Genesis 3:24 So He drove out the man Drove: Strongs #1644 garash to drive out, expel, cast out, drive away, divorce, thrust away 1) = to lift up, exalt & = head; to lift up and exalt ones head 2) = stranger, foreign & = fire/purging *Theyre driven out because they chose to lift up and exalt their own head and were a stranger to the purging and cleansing fire of Yahweh! How many today in the camp are in this same category? Exodus 28:42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach: Breeches: Strongs #4370 miknac underwear, drawers, trousers; = from, out of, source of origin & #3664) )to gather, collect, wrap, to gather together Nakedness: Strongs #1320 basar flesh & #6172 ervah nakedness, shame, indecency and improper behavior, something exposed and undefended *From the gathering together of body/house/bride, we gain a covering for our flesh! Our shame, indecency, and improper behavior that causes us to be exposed and undefended before our enemies is covered when we gather together in unity! The Gematria of Eikev = 172 Nehemiah 11:19 Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that kept the gates, [were] an hundred seventy and two. Porters: Strongs #7778 shower gatekeeper, porter; from #8176 shaar to split open, to reason out, to calculate, estimate, to divide As we continue to dig, we find a deeper level of understanding concerning how we are to keep the judgments of Yahweh and present ourselves at the feet/altar! In order to keep the judgments, it requires us to guard the gates in other words, to reason out, divide, split open every dabar/word (seed or

thought) that attempts to pass through! Akkub: Strongs #6126 insidious; from #6117 aqab circumvent, take by the heel (root of the word Eikev)

to supplant,

Talmon: Strongs #2929 Talmown oppression; but breaking the name down lends us a different meaning taman (#2934) to hide, conceal, bury, to hide oneself; used in Gen. 35:4 when Jacob buries/taman the pagan gods under the oak tree of Shechem! Genesis 35:4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which [were] in their hand, and [all their] earrings which [were] in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which [was] by Shechem. Shechem: Strongs #7927 shekem back or shoulder; Shechem is synonymous with the responsibility of Torah! Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal (mountains of blessings and curses) are located at Shechem. But its also synonymous with the restoration of the Hebrew language! Zephaniah 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Yahweh, to serve him with one consent/shekem. *Part of being a proper gate keeper deals with shouldering the responsibility that comes with this covenant, but it also has to do with understanding the role of the language of Yahweh! After all, this is what causes us to serve in one consent unity, and its in our unity that we are not exposed or undefended! Psalm 133:1 [[A Song of degrees of David.]] Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity! Unity: Strongs #3162 yachad union, unitedness, all together; gematria = 22, the # of letter of the Hebrew Alephbet! Its the restoration of the language that is taking place now in our day that will become a covering for the house as we prepare to come before Him! Gematria of Talmon = 135, same value as hacullam the ladder, referencing the ladder Jacob was shown representing the Word/Language/DNA helix of Yahweh & haqol the voice. Its the gatekeepers responsibility to make sure the camp/house knows the voice of Yahweh, and if the house becomes exposed/uncovered/undefended its due to the fact that the words coming in were not inspected closely enough! *Notice what is buried under the oak tree at Shekem by Jacob; the earrings which were in their ears. Ears: Strongs #241 ozen ear; it shares the same roots as #3976 mozenim scales, balances; your ears are your balances, what you weigh everything with. Jacob removed the things that 4

would hinder his house from hearing properly! And here we are being unctioned to do the same again! Deuteronomy 7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that Yahweh thy Elohim shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: Judgments: Strongs #4941 mishpat judgment, justice, ordinance; from #8199 shaphat to judge, govern, vindicate, punish Word Picture: ( Strongs #4851) drawn out; = mouth, within this letter is a hidden Bet picture of the house or with in by way of the mouth, that which is within is drawn out, Matthew 12:34 for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh paradoxical letter having both a blessed and accursed meaning, it is an inverted letter creating a picture like that of a woman pregnant *These ordinances that YHVH is placing before Israel (and before us) will draw out what is within their womb, will show forth whatever their womb is impregnated with, what word is being housed within us! 2 letter root on the end is the shortened form of meaning to prattle, chatter, babble; its in the chattering/babbling of the individual that reveals whether they are exposed before the altar or covered! Closely related to this word mishpat is #4942 mishpathim 1 )fire places, ash-heaps 2) sheepfolds; its the judgments of Yahweh that are meant to facilitate the purging fire (fire place) among the sheepfolds, but when we begin to cultivate strange fire (James 3:6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.) it leaves the sheepfold as an ash-heap, setting the entire body on fire. This Torah portion is truly one that reminds us of the significance of the devarim, the words that we speak and those that we allow in! Each of us are charged with keeping the fire burning upon the altars of our hearts, part of that responsibility deals with discerning what fire/word is being cultivated.
