Tamashii Reiki: Student Handbook Level I

Introduction
Tamashii Reiki is based on the Conscious Awareness of natural energies and their pathways. Energy leaves it's source, travels it's destined pathway, and eventually returns to the source. This is true on Every level of Existence. It is most evident among the physical elements. Lightning strikes a tree. The tree burns, releasing carbon dioxide into the air while taking oxygen away. The embers of the tree become ashes that nourish the ground. This allows for new growth which will take in the carbon dioxide that was created and release oxygen. This process is no different on the Etheric level. Things that we say or do have their effects on the people and things around us. The energy behind those effects then returns to the source. This is generally called Karma. It is the one Law of Existence. The purpose of this Law is to maintain Balance throughout Existence. Popular theory is that we are separate from the Divine Source. That is impossible, because we are formed from the Source. In theory, we serve our purpose and then return to the Source. There was never a separation, except in our Minds. This perceived separation resulted in the severe blockage of the energy needed to sustain life and evolve Spiritually. The purpose of Tamashii Reiki is to unblock the channels that Divine Energy uses to fuel our existence. This process allows for easier communication between one's conscious self and one's Higher Self. The first degree of Tamashii Reiki strengthens the connections between the Spirit and Physical bodies. The Spirit Chakras activated are Grace and Divine Source Consciousness, Clarity, Yin, Creation, Free Will & Freedom, Knowledge of Good & Bad, Yang, Enjoyment, Harmony, and Abundance.

The Symbols
Japanese Name: Cho Ku Rei Intention: Light Switch Purposes: Manifestation, increased power, accelerated healing, healing catalyst

The Cho Ku Rei (power symbol) is used to increase power, and decrease power (when used in reverse). This symbol looks like a coil. The coil is meant to expand and retract, regulating the flow of "ki" energies. Sometimes a subtle energy flow is needed, where as other times a blast of energy is better. Praised for its manifestation power, this symbol is a wonderful law of attraction focusing tool. Cho Ku Rei = Connect the = Power, Energy with = The Soul, The Universe, The Consciousness

Put in other words: 'Let all the power of the Universe be here' or 'God is here'. This is the symbol used to connect with the energy at the beginning of a session, and to increase power/energy where needed during a session. Further it is used to empower anything you want, like your medicines, crystals, food and drinks, machines and tools you work with, etc. Cho Ku Rei increases the power of all other symbols you use. Another important use of this symbol is cleansing a space or clearing up negative energies, for instance in a bad situation. It can be used for protection of yourself or your properties, because the great amount of light you call in with Cho Ku Rei dispels or keeps away negativity. It also seals in light energy when drawn at the end of a healing.

Japanese Name: Sei Hei Ki Intention: Purification Purposes: Cleasing, protection, mental and emotional healing

Sei He Ki

= I point = the Bow, Arrow to = Life-force, Light, Awareness

Therefore alternative meanings of the Sei He Ki are 'Remember Your Self' and 'God and humanity becoming one'. Pointing your arrow to awareness means bringing your attention to your feelings, emotions, patterns and psychology in order to understand and heal them. Sei He Ki restores emotional balance and harmony. Please understand that many diseases and problems have their roots in negative emotions and false beliefs. This symbol is used for the healing of bad habits, addictions, emotional trauma and heavy feelings like anger, frustration or jealousy. That makes this symbol another good one against bad vibrations and negative entities. It's also an excellent symbol for inner calmness and the release of blockages.

Japanese Name: Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen Intention: Timelessness Purposes: Distant healing, past/present/future, healing karma, spiritual connection

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen

= Spirit, Source, Origin, Universe = Mind, Surviving = Space, Be, Being = Feeling, Emotions = Consciousness, Body, Attention

Best known for its extention powers, the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen symbol is used when sending Reiki long distance. It symbolizes a shapeshifter that can slip through time and space. Another name for this symbol is "Pagoda" because of its tower-like appearance. Elastic in texture it is a fun symbol to play with during your healing visualizations. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen can also transform itself into a key that will unlock the Akashic Records. For this reason this symbol is an essential tool for the Reiki practitioner when working on inner child or past live issues with their clients. It is not difficult to discover the various levels of existence in the meanings of this symbol. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen makes the connection between Spirit and Body, heaven and earth, and is therefore known as 'The Bridge'. You can treat a cause rooted in the past with it, and it can change thought patterns (mental healing), what makes it a perfect symbol for karmic healing. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen connects your higher self with the higher self of the one you send energy; 'The Divine in me greets and honors the Divine in you' and this really is the best approach we can take towards our fellowmen. Personally, I prefer to work with the symbol on the right. The smiley-face amuses me ;-) But feel free to use whichever calls to you.

Japanese Name: Dai Ko Myo Intention: Enlightenment Purposes: Empowerment, soul healing, oneness

To the left you see the traditional Dai Ko Myo and to the right a completely different, modern version of it. The traditional Japanese form is given by Mikao Usui. The Spiral is believed to be Tibetan; it has been channeled that this 'new' Dai Ko Myo fits better into the vibrations of the training of this time. Both very powerful, it seems a matter of preference which one you choose to work with. Dai Ko Myo means Great Shining Light. As Aleister Crowley in another place states: "Every man and every woman is a star". Through the master initiation you'll reach a strong connection with Spirit, Source, Higher Self, the divine light which nurtures itself and wishes to spread to nurture others. The Dai Ko Myo is the strongest Reiki symbol, at this level. With the exception of the HonSha-Ze-Sho-Nen it can be used as a 'cure-all' in place of the others. Use it with all your Reiki works. Your energy work will receive an extra boost and you constantly draw this strong energy through your energetic system.

Energy Work
Tamashii Reiki is a No-Touch Healing Technique. The hands should rest, at this Level, between 3-5 inches away from the client's body. This resting point is within the Aura at it's densest layer. These energies are where the resonance from the physical and etheric bodies blend. Illnesses and dis-ease that manifest physically have roots in this energy field. A well balanced healthy Aura is strong, even, and just feels right. Our hands tell us how balanced the Aura is by their positions. They should be even with each other. An area with too much energy will force the first hand to cross it upward. An area in need of energy will pull the hand closer to the body. You may be instructed to use a Reiki symbol, go right ahead. Reiki energy is Conscious, it knows what is needed and how you can help it's processes along. Reiki is quite effective without any conscious effort on the part of the Practitioner aside from being an open Channel. However, adding our conscious awareness to the Healing process boosts the frequency of the healing energies. We're kind of like medical assistants holding a light for the Doctor.

Healing Sessions
A short session, 15-30 minutes, can be done with the client seated on a chair or stool. Stand behind the client. Ground. Center. Activate Reiki. Rest you hands just above and slightly behind their shoulders. The chakra point located here is called the Etheric Heart. It connects the Heart, Throat and 3 rd Eye and is the primary source of energy for the Aura. Working with these energies gives you a better feel for your client's normal energy levels. When you feel ready to begin brush your hands down the client's sides. Begin at the Crown. Draw the Dai-Ko-MyoThis draws Spirit Energy into the Chakra that most resonates with it. When you feel it is time to move on, step to the client's right while placing the right hand in front of the 3rd Eye. Leave the left near the Crown. If the energy is flowing in balance your hands should be an even distance from the client's head. Move the right hand down to the Throat Chakra. Let the left hand rest near the 3 rd Eye. When the throat and 3rd Eye are balanced step to the front to the client. Bring both hands in front of the Solar Plexus. Once there: Draw the Cho-Ku-ReiThe Solar Plexus is the source of the body's energy.

Applying the Cho-Ku-Rei 'boosts' the energy of this chakra. We balance the new boost of energy by running the right hand down the right side of the client. The left hand goes up the left side. Bring both hands back to center and bring the right in front of the Sacral Chakra. (Placing the hands in front of the knees is close enough.) I suggest sitting on the floor or a short stool. When you get your cue to move again bring your hands to the client's feet. (this will work for the Root chakra) This is where the energy that the body receives shifts from Divine (masculine) to Earth (feminine). Brush the right hand down the right side of the body all the way down to the feet. Use your left hand to 'brush' Earth energies into the Root Chakra. I often use the Cho-Ku-Rei here. Moving toward the client's left side, bring the left hand up to the Sacral Chakra, leaving the right near the feet. You will want to begin positioning yourself towards the client's left as you bring your hands to the Solar Plexus. At the Heart Chakra: Draw the Sei-He-KiThis will balance the client's Mental/Emotional Body. Return to the client's back. If nothing unusual is going on the aura should feel 'full' and even on all sides. Run the hands down the client's sides to 'brush off' excess energy. It is recommended that the Practitioner work from top to bottom and right to left. This pattern follows the flow of Universal Energy. On occasion you may be pulled to work on a specific area. Do it, it's all good. The client will, most likely, explain. If they don't, it's not at all impolite to ask why you're drawn to work on a particular area. More often than not, they have some idea. Long Sessions, 40-60 minutes, are done while the client lays on a massage table. I leave it up to the client whether they want to be face-down or face-up. If the client chooses to be face-down you have no problem accessing the Etheric Heart to get your baseline for their Aura. If they prefer to be face-up, then the Practitioner can use the Solar Plexus for the baseline reading. The pattern for a general healing is the same. Begin at the Crown with the Dai-Ko-Myo. Walk down the right side and charge the Solar Plexus with the Cho-Ku-Rei. Work your way down to the feet. Walking up the left side, bring up Earth energies. Charge the Heart Chakra with the Sei-He-Ki. Brush any excess energy upwards. When finished Ground excess energies. One of the many benefits of Reiki Healing is physical detoxification. A key thing to remember to tell clients. Drink plenty of water. The body will push out toxins the same way it does after a physical massage.

Other Uses
Cleansing Items:
Cho-Ku-ReiBlasts an item with Reiki energy literally raising it's frequency of vibration. Sei-He-KiExcellent for removing negative thoughts/emotions from (not-so-fast) food, coffee, etc.

Charging Items:
To charge an item is to infuse it with Reiki Energy. It can be a general Healing effect or something very specific. For example, let's say you want to hear your True Self better. Get a piece of jewelry, or a stone with complimentary attributes, clothing, etc. Cleanse the item in question with the Cho-Ku-Rei, keeping in mind the Intent to cleanse the item. Draw the Dai-Ko-Myo over the item. Hold the item in your hands, covering it as much as you can. This symbol raises our level of Awareness. A heightened sense of Awareness allows one the 'hear' their inner voice. Next draw the Cho-Ku-Rei. This symbol is quite helpful for putting Reiki in specific spots. Keep this item on you when you. It will be especially useful during meditation sessions. Feel free to re-charge it, should you wish.
