Jason and the Argonauts

Cameron Hyde 1. Jason and the Argonauts began their journey on the Argos at the Greek city of Lolcus. 2. Their first stop on their journey was at the Isle of Lemnos. This was a very interesting island were only women lived. All the women on the island rebelled against the men and killed them all, except for the King. The crew of the Argos was treated very kindly they were given food to eat and wine to drink. 3. The next place they stopped they encountered a man named, Phineas, who was able to tell the prophecy. This angered Zeus so he punished Phineas by making the Harpies come every time he eats and preventing him from eating. The brothers of the North wind who were on the Argos, chased the harpies with swords. They would have cut them if the God Iris had not stopped them. Iris promised that the Harpies would bother no more. In return for allowing Phineas to eat he offered them with some vital information. If a dove was able to make it through the clashing rocks then the ship was able to make it through too. 4. Clashing Rocks was the next encounterment on their journey to obtain the Golden Fleece. They did what Phineas advised them to and sent the dove through. The dove made it through so then went the ship. They also made it through with no time to spare. 5. Jason and his crew then briefly passed through the land of the Amazons. They did not stop because the Amazons are fierce and there would have been a great battle with much bloodshed. 6. Finally they reached Colchis, where the Golden Fleece is located. The King welcomed them, then when asked why he they had come, Jason answered to get the Golden Fleece. This did not sit well with the King and told him he could obtain it if he completed this nearly impossible mission. Jason had to yoke two bulls with bronze feet and plow a field with it and then plant dragons teeth into the soil where then soldiers would grow. Then Jason would have to defeat the soldiers. This task would have been almost impossible with out the help of Medea. Earlier the gods helped Jason by having cupid have Medea fall in love with Jason. This in return allowed Jason to talk to Medea and she gave him a charm that made him invincible and told him a trick, if he would throw a rock at the soldiers they would in return fight each other. After defeating all the soldiers Jason went to the orchard where the Golden Fleece was. Although it was guarded by a serpent, Medea lulled it to sleep which allowed Jason to get the Fleece. After getting the Fleece the heroes, along with Medea, quickly left to escape the Kings fury.
