ABSTRACT Sociologically, education is one aspect of socialization and has a function as an important mechanism for the selection of individuals for their future role in society. Through learning process in education, individuals internalize values and get sciences that can be applied in their life. Ideally, education both gives individual competencies and must increase people welfare. There is general expectation, that each of individual must have good educational attainment. Many of educational research found that social and economical status (SES) influences value system, attitudes, and behavior orientation of education (or defined as class subculture in education). Moreover, class subculture influences achievement and intergenerational attainment of education. Based on descriptive data viewed by researchers, we can intuitively think there is difference of educational subculture and attainment between lower and upper-middle class where upper-middle is higher. This research focused in five points. First, researcher wants to know correlation between parental support degree and children educational competence according to parents viewpoint at lower class. Second, researcher wants to know correlation between parental support degree and children educational competence according to parents viewpoint at upper-middle class. Third, researcher wants to know the difference test result of parental support degree rate between lower class and upper-middle class. Fourth, researcher wants to know the difference test result of children educational competence between lower class and upper-middle class. And fifth, researcher wants to know SESs influence in parental support degree. Researcher considers that educational parental support is one aspect of class subculture. Parental support degree viewed as independent variable and children educational competence as dependent. This research uses quantitative approach with survey method. Samples divided in two groups lower and upper-middle class or use non-proportionate stratified

random sampling method. The unit of analysis is elementary school grade 6 parents. This way orders that independent and dependent variable explored in parent viewpoint. Researcher uses questionnaire as main instrument to collect primary data with measurement in ordinal scale. Research findings explain that the correlation between independent and dependent variable is existed at lower class but it is not at upper-middle. Considering integrated analysis with other hypothesis test result include no difference in parental support rate, no difference in children educational competence, and SESs positive correlation with parental support degree, researcher find that at upper-middle, school subculture has given more influences to children educational competence. It can be compared with family subculture at lower class. Based on results and findings, researcher gives recommendations at three levels of institution. At family institution, parents must increase cognitive support and family support before and after school care. School need to develop two-way communication systems between school and parent; and also need to develop or built school subculture. Government must control school subculture development through education law with giving freedom in adopting foreign / modern curriculums in one side, but rejecting non educational foreign culture which cause collapse of national identity.
