osh Inman is a top competitor in
the nation when it comes to west-
ern riding. His life is dedicated to
the animals and the competition.
His father, Shawn Inman, was in-
volved in the horse racing industry and
is currently a breeder. His sister also
rides horses and helped pique Joshs in-
terest in the sport. As for Josh, he is a
nationally ranked western events eques-
trian rider.
My dad and my older sister got me
into it. My dad used to race horses and
used to have standard breeds. He set his
first world record with one of his horses
on my first birthday, said Josh Inman.
Inman has been riding since he was 2
years old and is currently a student at
Seneca High School. He has been look-
ing at colleges and traveled throughout
the summer months to compete with his
mare.
When we go to [All American Quar-
ter Horse Congress] congress, hes been
top 10. Western riding is a pattern, and
there are cones set up. They need to
change leads in a timely step, said
Shawn Inman.
Josh has been training with close
family friend Gary Weeks, whose stables
are located in Cape May. The two have
traveled together over the past two years
for competitions and continue to work

Burlington County Clerk Timo-
thy Tyler has now made it easy
for November voters to find need-
ed election information.
With less than 60 days until
the election and the conclusion of
both party conventions, our call
volume has shown a clear in-
crease, said Tyler. Residents are
calling for basic information and
new website links have been
added to help them find that in-
formation.
The office has added a link to
allow voters to be sure they are
registered to vote in a few simple
steps. The Check Voter Registra-
tion link will allow a resident to
search the States Voter Registra-
tion database by entering just
their name and date of birth.
The Where Do I Vote link al-
lows a voter to find their polling
location by entering only their
residence address. Voters do not
need to know their election dis-
trict to use the search. Residents
using the Where Do I Vote link
should double check their search
after the first of October as
polling locations may change
prior to that date due to construc-
tion or other issues at regular lo-
cations.
We have also moved a link to
our Vote By Mail Application to
the front page of our site, added
Tyler. All these links are located
on the left hand side of the county
clerks homepage.
Residents may look under the
Voting Information link for
General Information including
registration questions, Military
and Overseas Voting, Election Re-
sults and a current Candidate
Listing.
Voters who cannot locate, or
have issues with, their voter reg-
istration should contact the Su-
perintendent of Elections Office
at (609) 265-5111.

Boy Scout Troop 47 held its
Court of Honor Monday, Sept. 10,
honoring longtime Boy Scout
committee chairman Bob Fay in
his retirement from the commit-
tee with a surprise ceremony.
I was definitely surprised. I
was told I had to be here, my fami-
ly had to be here because my son
just got married so theyre visit-
ing from Germany and Georgia.
It was great. I had three of my
Eagle Scouts here, my other was
on his honeymoon, said Fay, for-
mer committee chairman.
Fay was involved in Scouts as a
child, making it as far as tender-
foot, the rank just above Scout.
Then, in 1977, Fay became in-
volved again when his oldest son
was 7 years old with the idea that
Boy Scouts would be good for
him.
The then-Scout leader said
well now that your son is in-
volved with Scouts, what are you
going to do for our pack? I said
my background was finance, and
I became the treasurer of Pack
47, said Fay.
His wife also became involved
by becoming a den leader. Fay has
remained active in Troop 47
since. He has continued with his
active involvement with the
troop, following all four of his
sons Eagle Scout honors and de-
parture from the group.
Ive been thinking about my
career with Troop 47, Fay said
during his speech. And there are
only two things I failed to do. One
was camping with my older son.
Its a great opportunity for people
to spend time with their sons. The
second involved the youngest
Eagle Scout in Troop 47. We asked
if we would see him again, and
we only saw him two more times.

together. Inman began breeding
and is working with Weeks to
train and break, or familiarize
the horse to equipment and rac-
ing methods, his colt Radiant in
Black with the hopes of showing
him next year.
I learned more about how to
ride and to make myself better.
Now I have better horses, and Im
a lot better than I was, said
Inman.
Most recently, Inman competed
in Augusta, N.J., winning the Re-
gion Five competition in the west-
ern riding youth division. Inman
went one full year without a loss
in western riding. With that,
comes the All American Quarter
Horse Congress, the worlds
largest single breed horse show,
this October in western riding.
Inman will be one of seven youth
representing New Jersey in the
National Youth Team Tourna-
ment. Determination of the
champion is through a scoring
system accumulated over the past
year of competitions. The rider
with the most accrued points
moves up.
Riders begin with 100 points
for each individual performance.
Through the routine, judges
deduct points for each mistake
made by both the horse and the
rider.
You start of with 100. You
have lead changes with your
horse and must do the lead
changes between the cones. You
have to weave between the cones
and do a lead change with each
cone, said Inman. Points are
taken off when the lead changes
arent perfect between the rider
and the horse.
Inman scored a 98 at his last
competition and, for the third
year in a row, will be representing
the state at the Quarter Horse
Congress.
The show runs for three and a
half weeks in October in Colum-
bus, Ohio. Inman will be riding
his quarter horse mare, Surely
IM Hot at the event.
Im very excited. Ill be out
there with a lot of colleges and
college scouts. You meet a lot of
important people, Inman said.
Numerous universities are
scouting Inman for his riding
prowess. Of those universities,
West Point, South Carolina
Coastal Academy and the Univer-
sity of Findley, located in Ohio,
have reached out and shown their
interest in Inman.
According to Inman, he is most
interested to South Carolina, but
plans to look further into his op-
tions for the future.
A lot of people I know are
going there [South Carolina
Costal Academy], and its got a
good equine program, Inman
said.
Inman is taking all college prep
courses at Seneca in addition to
ROTC, and is considering joining
the Army or the Air Force follow-
ing his graduation from high
school.
I plan on going in the military
first, but I want to train and even-
tually breed horses, Inman said.
Following a college degree,
Inman wants remain active in
breeding and riding horses by
possibly opening a business train-
ing horses, but remains unsure of
what he would like his major to
be.

Burlington County Freeholders in part-
nership with the Burlington County
Bridge Commission recently unveiled a
new interactive website to assist business-
es and developers in locating land and
buildings available for sale or lease in the
county.
The new Business and Developer Site
Finder is targeted to businesses looking to
locate in the county or expand existing op-
erations. Here, they will find available
properties posted by real estate agents, bro-
kers, and property owners.
Add this unique tool to our stockpile of
economic development resources, said
Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio.
This complements the business and job
seekers website we created earlier this
year and, in the process, sends a powerful
message that Burlington County is open
for business.
I am fully aware that the idea of an in-
teractive real estate site for businesses was
conceived long ago, Garganio added. I
also know it has been a work in progress
for some time. The good news is that we are
putting it out there when it is needed most,
to encourage business growth and jobs.
A walk-through presentation of the site
was provided during the freeholder confer-
ence meeting by Mark Remsa, director of
Economic Development and Regional Plan-
ning, Commission Chairman John B.
Comegno II, and the commissions website
consultant, James Harte.
Remsa noted that website users could
search and sort properties by type, size,
and price range. In addition, those who
surf for available property will find
other interactive features, including roads,
environmental features, and zoning.
The website can be easily accessed on
the bridge commissions homepage, at
www.bcbridges.org, under the Economic
Development heading. Remsa said a link
would also be created with the county gov-
ernment website.
There is no question that this is a
unique website with unique features, said
Comegno. It is a one-of-a-kind clearing-
house, intended to match available lands
and buildings with the businesses and de-
velopers who are looking for them.
As the countys agent and partner in
economic development, the commission is
proud to bring this initiative to the table,
Comegno continued. We also regard it as
a website that can grow. Undoubtedly well
get feedback from the users, and well have
some ideas of our own for upgrades and
improvements.
Remsa emphasized that there are no fees
for those wishing to post available proper-
ty on the site. They need only register and
create a login ID and password. Realtors
and brokers have been contacted, and thus
far, 60 users have posted approximately 40
properties.
Our goal going forward is to populate
the site with as many available properties

G
ov. Christie last week said he
increased funding for schools
statewide by almost $200 mil-
lion. He also said that brought state
support for schools to its highest level
ever.
Now, while providing a quality edu-
cation requires more than just tossing
around dollars, theres no doubt that
local districts are grateful for the sup-
port. They remember all too well re-
cent years when state support was
slashed and tax-hike caps put in place.
Seeing more funds from the state no
doubt makes life a bit easier for all of
them.
When Christie slashed state funding
for schools shortly after taking office,
it indeed created hardship. But it also
made boards of education and admin-
istrators take a step back and rethink
how things are done.
One of the benefits weve seen is a
willingness and even encouragement
on the part of school districts to in-
volve the public in the budget process.
Thats not to say that some districts
werent actively courting public sup-
port before the budget cuts. But, when
everyone found themselves in the same
difficult situation, having to make
tough decisions about taxes and spend-
ing, it seemed like there was new em-
phasis on building public involvement.
We think school board member is
one of the toughest jobs around. Try-
ing to balance the mandate of provid-
ing children with a quality education
with keeping taxes as low as possible is
not easy.
But school boards responded. They
not only opened up the budget process,
they began to seek out creative ways to
save and raise money. They created
partnerships with other districts, for
example. Some are even looking at in-
volving corporate partners who want
to advertise on school property.
Yes, the added state money is wel-
come. But lets also remember that the
sharp budget cuts from a few years
ago, though painful at the time, also led
to improvements.

Theres more money for schools, but the budget cuts also led to progress
Doing things differently
The governor talked about increased
state support for schools. No doubt
that was good news for school board
members and administrators. But lets
not overlook the progress that came
from the budget cuts a few years ago.

Composting benefits the resi-

saving valuable landfill space,

Freeholder Joseph Donnelly
said the county has seen the ris-
ing popularity of its Business
and Job Seekers webpage since
it was introduced in May. Donnel-
ly noted it is one of the most visit-
ed webpages on the county web-
site.
Its clear that the Internet has
become a valuable resource for
both those seeking employment,
as well as businesses looking to
expand, or benefit from training
and hiring incentives and

finder webpage adds in no small
way to our package of offerings.

South Jerseys leading support alternative.
Serving the area for over 10 years!
Honesty and integrity are synonymous for !
We encourage you to contact our references and let them tell you!
Please, do not leave Troop 47 after
you leave at 14, 15, or 16. Remain
involved.
Fay considers the biggest les-
son and most rewarding aspect of
the Scouts is active involvement.
Its been a wonderful thing to
see not just my sons progress,
but someone coming back and
saying I remember you helping
me out, said Fay.
Fay has no plans to discontinue
his involvement with the troop
and plans to remain active.
Im still here, said Fay. Im
not going anywhere.
In addition to honoring Fay,
Troop 47 was officially awarded
the William T. Hornaday Unit
Award for their charitable work
recycling Christmas trees in Sha-
mong Township.
This is freaking awesome,
said Jeff Siedlecki assistant
Scoutmaster. Its really outside
the box thinking. I gave credit to
Bob earlier because I need to call
him my mentor for lack of a bet-
ter term. Hes really great to
bounce ideas off of. A little light
went off for both of us, and we
wondered if we could do it with
the scale of the project. If you get
Bobs approval, youre good.
Project ideas can be brought to
the troop by any Scout leader,
however the idea must be ap-
proved by youth leaders who
make the decisions about the
group before any project is able to
move forward, including the
Christmas tree collection.
It was a true cohesive effort,
boys working, dads sweating and
moms sweating. Its a true
essence of what Boy Scouts are
about. Its hard work with an end
result with something the boys
can look at for years, Siedlecki
said.
