For the KM sales companies, it is possible to download the firmware at the download center on the ESDC.net. When upgrading the firmware or replacing a board, please upgrade each kind of the firmware (PACK of MAIN FRAME/ENHANCEMENT) to the latest version at the same time. *1) Please make sure to upgrade the MAIN and the MMI firmware at the same time. If the firmware is individually upgraded, the CF000 error message may appear which cannot be cleared at customers site. *2) Please note that the default value of U327 (Setting Cassette Heater Control) is reset to OFF in case that the firmware was upgraded to the version 004.001 or later from the older version. For more details, please refer to the Service Bulletin SB-2H70012-8746. *3) Please perform AC Calibration in the maintenance mode U464 (Set ID Adjustment Mode) after upgrading the firmware to the version 006.009 or later from the older version. The letters with umlaut were not usable to register a path for the SMB function from the Command Center (failure in the previous upgrade pack11). Therefore, this was corrected. The total sum of the Account ID Total and the total that appears at the "All Accounts" as the last column of the ACCOUNT.REPORT might be different when printing the ACCOUNT.REPORT. Therefore, this was corrected. The main unit might be locked up when attempting a certain operation for the PDF direct printing from the USB memory. Therefore, this was corrected. When i-Fax was received, the data might not be converted and the CF2A4 error might appear if it contained unconvertible data. Therefore, this was corrected. The spelling of [Quality] tab in German was incorrect which appears when opening [Copy] page on the operation panel. Therefore, this was corrected. Before) qualitat -> After) Qualitt The FAX memory might fail to be initialized with the internal control version file error at start-up and accordingly, the FAX memory transmission failure might occur. Therefore, the version file will be rebuilt if it contains errors so that it can be correctly initialized. ----------

---------A pause might be inserted between pages and printing might be slowed down when printing continuously. Therefore, this was corrected. Extra process time might be required to rebuild the data caused by a pause between jobs. Therefore, this was corrected. The F248 error might appear when attempting to print certain fonts registered in a CF card. Therefore, this was corrected. (These fonts will be correctly printed if they are registered in the RAM.) The process time will be longr with a pause when printing a single page continuously. Therefore, this was corrected. Logo mark area was filled in black when printing with an application named Formtastic. Therefore, this was corrected. ---------Since the PCL5e selected a large number of unnecessary fonts, the logic was changed in order to optimize the font selection. The magnification slightly differed depending on the model. Therefore, this was corrected. The character specifying code might come in the order of [33], [82] and [33] (= !R!) in the PCL5 data, and the Prescribe command was unintentionally entered. Then, the data afterwards were not printed. Therefore, this was corrected. The process was changed where it required much time for a large data relocation and the differential compression. ----------

No. Changes and Implementations Improved performance 2 41 Measures against the image dropout (improvement of the LSU cleaning mechanism) Phenomenon 1) The color dropout occurs toward the main scanning direction. However, it is somewhat curved down from A to C instead of straight. C Remarks

A 2) A single color dropout appears in white. In the case of color image, it appears with other colors than the one dropping out.

The dropout image might appear if the one-way clutch was partly caught up by the Mylar film and it stopped where the laser beam path was interrupted by the cleaning blade. Therefore, the following changes were made so that the one-way clutch will not stop. - The feed motor is now rotated in reverse at half speed and then rotated at full speed after the LSU cleaning was completed so that the cleaning blade will go back to the home position. - The following selections were added to the maintenance mode to set up the mode. U474 [Reverse Rotation] was added. 0: Off (default) 1: On - Execute the above on the users understanding since the warm-up time will be delayed by 4 to 6 sec. if the mode above was set. - The value will be reset to 0 (Off) after the firmware was upgraded. Set it again if it was set to On for the individual solution.

42 Measures against the backside smudge (from secondary transfer roller dirt)

43 Improvement of the print job productivity 44 Measures against the faint solid black image (Variable target value for the toner thick layer calibration (black) in the U464)

The backside smudge might appear at approx. 47mm from the leading edge at the first page print with low coverage after continuous monochrome printing in the low humidity environment. Therefore, the residual toner on the secondary transfer section will be collected to the primary transfer section before paper feeding is started. The threshold value to shift to the paper interval control mode was changed in the U325 Mode5 motion (shifted to the Mode5 depending on the drive time in the Mode1) in order to improve the productivity. The target value for the toner thick layer calibration (black) in the U464 was enabled as the corrective measure for the faint solid black image. Try the following measures against the faint solid black image. - Execute the developer refresh. - Execute the manual calibration. - Increase the black target value in the U464 if the measures above did not help (Thick Calib Add Bias (K)). (Note that the toner drop or background image might appear if the value was increased.) - Execute the manual calibration. (This fixes the changed value.) - Check the image level. (Change the value again depending on the level.) *The default value was changed from +10 to 0 after this change. The cleaning roller reverse rotation control after finishing a job was disabled (since the drum pinhole might occur at the user whose printing pages per job are a few). The motion control before the slow-up was changed in order to prevent the step-out of the stepping motor.
